Thread regarding Sears layoffs

The Reason Sears won't make it through 2018

Very simple.

Bond matures in October 2018, meaning Eddie has to come up with billions by then. If you think he's gonna fork out billions at this stage of the game, I have a bridge to sell you in New York.

Nevermind the maturity date, a coupon comes due in April. I'd be shocked if he even makes that payment. And if he has no intention of making that payment, why even bother struggling through January and february?

But does this REALLY matter. I seem to remember a similar story about July 2017 and they just pushed the date back...

Sears will fall eventually for one reason or another but we honestly don't know the specifics

@vbw I get it, but I think the world is different today. Yes many times you do go to work just to get a paycheck, and you know what that isn't the end of the world.

@snl People steam up because the company has really deteriorated. Sears wasnt that bad years ago, but its just gotten so unbearable that people just go to get a pay check. Eddie is keeping the company afloat for personal gain. The guy never seem interested in actually turning around the company to become profitable. Their was a lot of chances and you never saw it lots of bad moves that made the company melt to put more $$$ on his pocket towards the end You can say its thanks for him the company is still running, but its running on a barebone limited skeleton at this point.

You go to work with more stuff to do with less hours less staff. Theirs a reason why some people just think the company its done I mean tons of stores keep closing every year you don't hear the company having positive numbers just more debt building up.

@uoh I am not in any way upset with Eddie. It is those who come on here who are miserable and want others to be miserable too that I am upset with. There is no reason to put false "fear" In people....especially not around Christmastime.

@bpw I have made my money and also have an updated resume and still have quite a number of working years remaining. Still considering if i should work or work at what i love doing full time or part time. Well I wish you all the very best and invest your earnings well. Bankruptcy or no bankruptcy you will still be a free person.

@dvo Good luck when your complacent butt gets let go next year. You seem bright as Rudolf’s nose. Just might lead you to the unemployment line.

Are you'll not not fedup of putting the two words 'Sears' and 'Bankruptcy' together and still nothings happens. Geting up the next day to report to work at Sears or Kmart and its BAU.

@gtj - Why are you directing your comments to a poster on a SHLD message board? They are only commenting on the current situation at SHLD. Why not direct your comments to the person who is directly responsible for the misery that SHLD associates are suffering through this holiday season? If you are not aware of who that is, his name is Eddie. He is the one that is stooping so low and upsetting people!

It is the week before Christmas. Is there really no compassion out there for your fellow man? Honestly stop the nasty at least during the holidays. Or take a look at yourself and ask what went wrong that you feel the need to stoop so low to try to upset people.

The payment due is half the interest rate so less than 3.5 percent on around 300 million. I think Sears could cough up 10 million easily. They cough up that much in interest almost monthly for the loans that Eddie owns.

Short term stock prices don't reflect the health of a company. Long term stock price movement in either direction is actually a decent indicator of a company's health.

Neither short or long term prices reflect the economy as a whole unless it's a massive downwards spike throughout the markets. Potentially upwards also but I don't think that happens.

Just thought I'd expand on what our economics genius friend posted. There seems to be a few of them lurking around here lately....or maybe it's the same guy.

No need to be mean. Everyone be nice to each other. We are all entitled to our own opinions.

No, the reason for that is the same reason the stock market is at ll time highs while more stores close in 2017 than ever in history.

Talk about stupid. You think the stock market is a direct reflection of the economy? Meanwhile the FED publicly admits to buying 120BN per month of financial instruments.

Ever heard of manipulation dumb F__K? Ever wonder why a billionaire would waste half his fortune trying to prop up a dead company?

Of course you didn't, because you're a clueless idiot.

Is that the reason why it’s trading at 83 cents instead of 30 cents? What a dumb--s. It’s obvious you have an agenda.
