Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

The Harvey Weinstein’s in Chevron

I saw some horrible things when I was at chevron over my 15 year plus carrier. It did nothing for developing me as a good person in society. I had a Harvey as a boss and as a male employee we had to participate in Harveys exploited while on the road whether in Singapore,Bangkok, or Nigeria. Amazing thing is the Harvey’s are still there and now at the GM level

Sorry wusses but your opinions don’t change what should be. It’s a man’s world or at least it used to be. The world would be a better place if it was. The Pakistan and Saudi Arabia examples don’t serve to win your argument. The USA was never nor will ever be like those throwback countries. Try again.

5ihr In the 40s men were off to war and women were working in the defense plants. My Grandma worked in a torpedo plant. So your nostalgia is a bit off. There are plenty of women in CVX that have had excellent careers, been mentors for women AND men, and have brought their families along quite wonderfully. There are/were women who didn’t perform or became entitled. But I doubt the percentages were any different from their male peers.

Let the hateful responses begin! Merry Christmas from a career MALE colleague.

-5sqq: I am older than you might think... pre-baby Boomer. All I can say is your dream is still alive ... counties like Pakistan and Saudi Arabia comes to mind. The old ways only look better from a nostalgic distance... a long distance.

So you disagree, 5imx. I’m a man who is old enough to know the difference because my parents were of that generation where life experiences were day and night different from today’s chaotic lifestyle. I’ve lived in both worlds, before as a boy and today as a 60 year old man. You must be a youngster who has only been in one world. Traditions in societal behaviors have been around for centuries for a reason kiddo.

Wasn’t society much better back in the 40’s and 50’s when men and women had their principal responsibilities? Men were the bread winners and providers, women cared for the home and raised the kids. There were more jobs that paid well enough to keep a family because it was mainly men that held the positions. Society was more orderly. Today, everything is screwed up, more complicated, everyone is confrontational, too many issues, too many causes. That’s what a society gets when the structure is broken down, no set of expectations and rules. Men and women are very different, yet our crazy society has decided to make us all the same. We’re not the same. We all deserve happiness, safety, liberty and respect. But don’t confuse that with being the same. Each need to coexist together, but society would work better if we didn’t lose the tradition behaviors and customs of our past.

To the OP QOmvnct: You are an accomplice. You are being tracked and we see you in court.

Definition: A person who knowingly, voluntarily, or intentionally gives assistance to another in (or in some cases fails to prevent another from) the commission of a crime. An accomplice is criminally liable to the same extent as the principal.

If you felt so strong about being subjected to this treatment... then within your 15 years of service, did you ever report this behavior it to Ombuds?

Potential for s-xual misconduct and exploitation exists in any asymmetric power situation just about everywhere. I would be surprised if any organization is devoid of that malice. There is plenty more out there than what has started to surface in recent times. Just the tip of a massive iceberg. Chevron is just a microcosm of the world at large.

CVX needs to continue cleaning out the deadwood including those who cannot spell, make false accusations without any proof and play the pathetic victim like the OP. Good riddance.

I think the tide will begin to turn at Chevron and throughout corporate America. This national trend of calling out the harassers of all stripes is just getting started.
