Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Final:

I’m on a final for not hitting my quality metrics. I have six months to go hitting 100% of quota and my quality metrics (Net Adds, TMP, Unlimited, ARD, and Hum) to get off of final. With quotas being as high as they are and metrics being a luck vs. skill issue, it seems unlikely that I’ll go six months with perfect performance.

Should I quit while I’m ahead after the new year, or should I try my best every month and just wait until the boot comes down?

Anyone else in the same position? I didn’t even think I could be moved to final for not hitting minimum metric standards, but HR approved every document my boss handed me.

And please don’t tell me, “This is the wireline board,” and then link me to the other site because we’re one company. Grow up.

THEY JUST BLUFFING their not gonna fire you. the end game is to goat you into quitting. I advise that you continue showing up to work and doing the bare minimum. worst case scenerio youll get unemployment.

I've been with vow for 13 years. Never seen anyone get fired for metrics. Its threats and hoping you will quit. If you are a woman or minority you could sue as there are so so so many ppl on finals that never get termed

Just know in the back, front, and middle of your mind that this is all pressure to get you to go voluntarily. That makes it easy on them. So if you want to stick it to them, do all you can do to be productive, honest, and living the credo and make them terminate you.

It depends on how easy you think it will be to quickly get another job. If you can walk into another job, the fact that you won't get unemployment shouldn't matter (apart from the fact VZ wins a little, but so do you!). "Generally", the advice is that it is easier to get a job when you are currently employed, so while the potential hiring person won't know if you quit or were fired, it may still raise some doubts in their mind as to why you don't now have a job.

So I would take the advice of doing the minimum to survive this period (almost certainly you cannot turn it around, that's not the purpose of this treatment) and search for new opportunities.

Your manager doesn't like you.You want too look at other reps numbers in the store you're working and other reps in your zone. Reach out to the other reps that have similar numbers as you, and don't go right into are you being coached ,start off by asking what are they doing right everyday. Then ask! If the others are not being coached out or written up then you know it personal. Ask the son of a bit-h do nothing why! He and management are not consistent in anything they do .Catch him in his little game and consider this " as VZW store manager he has the intelligence of a brick "so don't be intimidated. He wouldn't think you would ask your peers questions. Remember it's all about them! See if he owns up to what he's trying too pull or if you have the proof ask a legal mind. Otherwise, keep tryin for 6 months and it might go away, you never know.if not, keep looking there's better places to work.

@-txt: I do the behaviors, but I am constantly under scrutiny. I open my e-mail, and there is almost always a negative coaching, regardless of whether or not I achieved the behavior. The system is visibly fractured if my behavior revolves around demoing Hum, yet I’m on final for ARD/Unlimited/TMP. But thank you, I will definitely not reach out to HR.

@-klt: Thank you, I will keep that in mind! No flipping out or stealing, easy!

@-veo: Not everyone on the Wireless side is anti-union. I know people have a lot of strong opinions on the matter. The fact remains that a large majority of Verizon employees on the Wireless side are not responsible for that decision, but they will ultimately suffer the most from it. A little empathy goes a long way. Thanks and Merry Christmas to you too.

@-ock: It must be excruciatingly difficult for you to skim through content that doesn’t pertain to you, boo hoo. Thanks for dropping in.

WIRELESS STRONG!

The wire line workers I saw on strike outside my store were all fat, old and inbred. Gross! No wonder most of the wireleline people here praise trump. They probably go to KKK meetings when not on this board.

@c-ock (incredibly fitting) what's it like to not be loved by anyone? You keep whining about which site to go on while your parents continue to refute your desperate attempt to be in their lives again.

WIRELESS FOR LIFE!!!!

Wait until they fire you, that way you can collect unemployment.

You're eligible for unemployment benefits unless you get fired for misconduct. You sound like a nice and level headed person so just keep it that way. No flipping out and yelling at customers or managers. No stealing obviously. Don't take anything home that isn't yours. Don't give them a reason to cry misconduct and withhold benefits. Good luck and hang in there.

Don't reach out to HR their only job is to keep the company from getting sued. While you are right about getting coached out the door it's not as an easy process. If you really want to stay the best thing to do is work with them and do the bevhaiors set forth. Otherwise just use the time to find another job and don't worry about VZW.

@-zad: I appreciate the feedback, thank you. Unfortunately, times are’a changin’ around here. It feels as if DMs/GMs are getting directives to coach people out of the door. I’d like to believe I’m safe, but I highly doubt my GM will back down. My peers think I should reach out to HR before it escalates further, but they haven’t helped me in the past, which is how I found myself here.

@-xnn: Will do! Thank you.

@-ohq: Oh, that’s a relief. I didn’t think I’d be eligible for unemployment due to the fact that it isn’t an “involuntary” job loss? At least that’s what someone told me. Thank you.

I was a manager for a few years and I can tell you this. As long as you aren't disrespectful you can just go out sell how you want and you'll have 6 months of stressfree selling while you look for a new job. It's so ridiculously hard for them to fire you based on performance. I once had a rep that outright would lie and not do as asked and never even make an effort to sell additional products and we were never able to fire them regardless of the mass amounts of documentation out there.

Your next employer can’t know how you ended your time there.

You’ll be eligible for unemployment unless you were stealing from the company or something insanely egregious.

If you have a manager who will act as a reference do you during your time here it’s all the same.

Stick it to them as long as you can. Let them terminate your employment.

This is my first time replying/posting on this board, so hope I’m doing this right!

@-wna: It certainly feels that way. I don’t know if I’ll be eligible for unemployment, but at any rate, I really didn’t want my time here to end like this. To make matters worse, it seems like I’m the only one who’s being held accountable for minimum standards of performance (metrics). Thank you for the advice though.

@-wvx: I thought so. I just wasn’t sure if it looked better in terms of applying for a new job?

Wow they set you up to fire you.

Let them do it just to increase your chances of unemployment. Never quit without a new job.

These truly are the end times.

Sounds like your boss wants you gone. It’s all about behaviors now and your boss is out to get you. Don’t quit let them fire you. It looks bad on them if they fire someone because of performance
