Laid off today, leaving behind a bunch of good friends who are also worried. My manager said he was told to reduce the number of people in his area. I was part of the Data Protection group. I figured when my sales was about half of what it was last year something was going to happen. My customers just didn't want anymore Avamar, Data Domain or Networker. Merry Christmas everyone, others are worried about next week as the reductions continue.
The problem is it's not clear what parts of storage are doing well and what parts are underperforming i.e. Mid Range vs High End and EMC storage vs Dell storage
This year will be all the more crucial for Dell to reduce non performing liabilities as they have done poorly especially in Storage.
