Sears Gives Back

Due to the corporate tax cuts that just passed Sears is giving a $500 bonus to all part time associates and $1000 bonus to all full-time & salaried associates that have been with the company more than a year. This will be paid around the second week of January.

Change it to 5 years or more and the amount of people getting anything would drop, if this were true.

This would be impossible given the financial situation of the company. There are more than 150,000 store associates, managers, field staff, distribution centers workers, corporate staff and so on. I'm guessing about 85% would qualify due to working for SHC for a year, so that's about 120,000 associates.

There are much healthier companies that can't afford to give out a bonus package like that.

Quite frankly, with all of the budget cuts, position eliminations and such, I'm surprised we have a Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner budget for each store. For SHC, a $500PT/$1000FT bonus is just insurmountable, tax breaks or not.

Corporate tax cut won't affect Sears, it's losing millions every quarter. Also the Net operating loss are now limited to 80% taxable income so it's not a good new for Sears.

Well they do seem to be giving lots of free cash and points this holiday season, so the bonus is probably in points that expire in 14 days.
