My wife is afraid she is on a list for layoffs, due to the COBRA continuation of health benefits we just received. Is this a standard notification whe you join CHC?

Based on my knowledge, COBRA notices have nothing to do with layoffs
funny how all these activities benefit the company. Health Plan is new and not a continuation because technically it is a new company. But the 200K you have in deferred compensation was rolled over to the company that has huge debt, leaving at enormous risk, not allowing employees to get at it...not a new company in that case.
The Legacy McK MTS employees were split off into their own health plan for 2017, so when the transfer to "the new" CHC benefits for 2018 occurs, it also dissolves the McK/MTS plan. The fact that everyone was offered the option to enroll in the 2018 benefits under CHC isn't recognized as a continuation of coverage, because technically, they're different companies. It's seen as a qualifying event, where beneficiaries "lose" coverage (the 2017 McK/MTS plan no longer exists), which triggers the COBRA notices.
Contacted CHC corp they stated that all employee spouse's are receiving the Cobra Rights notice...very strange....but with new company new rules maybe just protocol.
Has everyone who receives health insurance through CHC gotten one of these?
HR bumbles the RIF process just about every time. This notice is not a good sign. You will probably be getting notified right after the holidays.
Yes, the notice was received here as well. I think this is a routine notification about the existence of cobra rights rather than a sign of who's gonna get axed next.
The layoffs will surely (good sources) continue mostly in dribs and drabs so as not to trigger WARN policies in the different states.
The new CHC - post merger - is targeting "150 million in synergies" i.e. cuts and eliminations in mostly duplicative tasks.
Wouldn't read much into this notice but I would/ an continue to be on guard with a Plan B (and C).
I received one as well. Not sure why. It is definitely concerning.
Hello from Jax Fl
I also received a Cobra Letter.
Not sure why,but Iam a little worried myself.Iam trying not to panic but it wouldn't surprise me with all the merging.
I will be asking my fellow employees if they received too.
