Kmart overcharges everyone, including employees! It is much cheaper to fill your prescriptions at other pharmacies. Some meds are even free elsewhere. Shop around and don't just blindly go to your employer's pharmacy thinking they have your best interest in mind.

Basically they were over billing for prescriptions that were being paid for by Medicaid, Medicare and state prescription programs. They charged government insurance programs inflated prices, while a customer who was paying cash paid substantially less for the same prescription.

A whistle-blower alerted the feds about the practice at Kmart pharmacies.

They should have agreed to shut down all of their pharmacies instead of paying a settlement. It would have been cheaper for the company, since most of the pharmacies don't generate double digit profits anyway.

Considering there are roughly 180 Kmart pharmacies, that is a lot of dough to spread across those stores as expense.
