Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Latest news regarding receiving changes!

Receiving Clerk position eliminated, all remaining work shifted to Team Lead. Team Lead hours shifted to 4-Noon. Those unable to take the new hours can choose to have their hours cut to fit (so a 5-Noon shift) or find another position in the club. NO SEVERANCE OFFERED FOR LEADS OR CLAIMS. Since the hours adjustment isn't extreme enough they're refusing severance for these positions if they don't take the adjustments. Team Lead and claims will handle all 4-noon workload.

Night shift receivers may choose to switch to 4p-Midnight shift (2 total positions) or take severance package and leave if there are no alternate jobs. No overnight positions available.

lots of things were to change last year but are coming starting with asn/frito. scan based bread vendors, asn walmarts dc, some bulk freight set scheduled the rest of water and paper go thru dry dc to eliminate full trailers of paper and water just 5-6 pallets every night from dc. Service channel taking over remainder of invoicing and Bunzl (fresh) by HO. digital repository back up to paperless receiving. Frito rep says pepsi and coke in some clubs already asn. all ups,fed ex convert remainder to carton receiving. Costco already did away with o/n the only thing sam's is doing is testing to get kinks out. we will no longer have o/n. they will split shifts and do member service and stocking.

If vendors go ASN , which is gonna happen Frito lay is going that way starting in Jan. in our club. UPS and Fed ex either goes ASN or auto received there should be no problem handling the work load. Mclane toke at most 15 mins other day and that was 180 items and six full pallets . Our club just keys Mclane mixed pallets go to floor people to work. Home office has taken over alot of our live load scheduling. So I think a lead could cover area byself with no problem, just time management. If your good at that then you shold have no problem

Bread vendors are like 30 minutes total if you know what you're doing. UPS/Fedex will probably go all ASN and they'll expect it to be done in no time as well.

our claims department work 4 to 12 for a lot of years until they were forced to work 7 to 3 actually you get more done from 4 to 12 because you were there for at least 3 hours before the store opens and you can get your rtvs pulled and everything else you need to do out on the floor, ring up liquidation, re-ring code 2 and 3's,etc. You can fax your vendors for RA's and they'll fax them back there you go

Claims working from 4am-12 would not do! Particularly in certain time zones. Got to be there during business hours (of other companies) to call suppliers for RA’s.

Claims has so much going on that’s it’s not realistic to think they’d be able to help in receiving too.

We will just have to see what happens...
