Wrong people are being let go

Nike has created positions for full time employment for jobs that can be done in about 10 hours a week. This is why people are being let go. There is no way in hell, Concept Director is a full-time job and it pays more than $100,000 a year. Think about it? Color Designers when there was only one per category were responsible with their marketing counterparts to come up with concepts and THEY weren't even that busy, but now Nike needs to have a Color Design 1, CD2, Sr color designer, design manager, design director, production artist and a CONCEPT DIRECTOR!! That's ridiculous!!! It's great that Nike is able to employ so many people, but keep those that are actually contributing and get rid of the do-nothings.

This mentality has also worked its way right into Converse. Nike has so many of their ‘own’ who have moved over to Converse in those “director” and “Sr Director” roles who add NO VALUE whatsoever. They have let go long time, dedicated Converse employees just so they could make up absurd repetitive positions. It’s a sad situation. Sooner or later it’s got to come back at them.

I know a senior director that tells his VP about the work he is doing, the VP doesn’t even Check and believes him. The guy has done nothing, his direct reports don’t respect him. Older employees are let go and younger ones are pushed too hard. While a select few sit in the middle and don’t do anything.

Many SR Directors and Directors add very little value especially those with Less than 10 years. They are good about working from home and life work balance for them selves.

Way to much waste at Nike and redundancy .

I sit around in meeting after meeting with directors and senior directors. I know their department and title but have no idea what they do. No one does.
