Thread regarding Sears layoffs

This week's cuts

We are hearing receiving lead cut this week in the northeast. Is this correct or is it again a different lead in each store depending on sales? This is horrible after their most stressful time of the year.

@1lfb I don't think it will happen right away maybe next week or the following they always like to save those till later. Lets put it this way January is basically cleaning house season. They like to wait after 4th quarter I would assume, but no matter what our 4th quarter overall in store is a big downer.

@cmh; That's actually exactly what we had to do years ago when the whole bungled MyGofer experiment started. Our office lead refused to order boxes, and we were sending customers' orders to them in such appealing boxes as bleach, detergent, and adult diaper boxes.

Nice sarcasm. You aren't spelling his name correctly so that kind of gives things away.

Sears or Kmart?

As a Sears backroom lead, I'm staying on this crazy bus until the end of February, where I will be getting off at the next stop. Kinda figured that my position would go away eventually.

I also figured that the company isn't long for the world. If you have been paying attention to all the big and little details and reading between all the lines it is right in front of you and you don't have to rely on the same old, regurgitated news articles about Sears. Here's an example. For most of 4th quarter, I had NO BOXES for web orders! What kind of hooey is that? Do you think Amazon or Target are shipping merchandise in used boxes that came from unloading freight? There's a clue. Go find some more, there's lots of them.

It won't break me if they eliminate my position this week (or any other time up to the point of my departure) because I don't need this job at this point, I have savings and another job lined up the first of March. If anything, I'm morbidly curious.

The store I'm at is terribly understaffed with everyone quitting so it would be pretty interesting to see cuts to what is already a skeleton crew.

We no longer have a front end lead and a pricing lead. Also have recently had one ASM, footwear and jewelry lead lose their jobs. I am in the southeast region

@vxj what other lead positions got cut in your store? What part of the country are you in?

The ulimate goal of corporate HR (besides avoiding WARN lawsuits when the company folds) is to have a store general manager, softlines and hardlines ASMs, and no more than four or five leads per store. How those lead positions are assigned will vary by store.

Have not had a receiving lead or any receiving associate in over a year. Manager in duty has to deal with all vendors, etc that comes from the back
