Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

What's the real story?

I’m from a media outlet based in Bloomington-Normal. We’re working on a story about what’s really going on with these buyouts/layoffs at SF. Need your help. Send me a text at 779.903.3590 or on the Signal app (BNreports/779.903.3590). You can stay anonymous.

Oh yeah, there is no way I would trust anyone from Lee Enterprises. There's too much chance they'd simply report their "findings" up the chain to State Farm corporate leadership.

Whoever this is, their cell phone number is a Chicago area number.

An interested party could pay for a reverse phone lookup.

Wouldn’t a journalist have sources in place and wouldn’t have to ask for texts? Not too difficult to find sources. Most of the town works for SF. And every Systems employee can articulate what went wrong, why we are here and WHO got us here!

To the supposed "journalist" who started this thread: Why are you asking people to text you?

That seems suspicious.

Many rank and file Systems employees tried to warn their leadership that the overhaul 7 or so years ago was reckless, short-sighted, and a gigantic money pit.

Except It should have been obvious, especially since the only thing that was really broken in Systems back then was the bloated and unnecessary "leadership."

Now we're all paying for their stupidity.

Systems is just the start. Every department is under review and will go through cuts. 2018 is going to be harsh.

Here is the real story Systems Leadership didn’t have enough experience to be in the roles they were in. They spent money as if it grew in the cornfields outside of the Bloomington offices. They were grasping at straws trying to get technology implemented bringing bodies, contractors and consulting firms in from everywhere. There was at one time so many people in Corporate South that the Fire department was counting cars in the parking lot trying to determine if the building occupancy was over the limit. We tasked the school districts with this infusion of new people and even over tasked the plumbing at Corp South to a point they had to ask workers to work remotely.

They also attempted to make massive system and hardware changes all at the same time proving even more so that they did not have the knowledge or vision to lead. They increased personnel, software and hardware expenses 10 fold in a matter of months. Previous C Level Leadership let it go on having faith In the existing Systems Leadership which they should not have. When new C Level Leadership came in they wanted a change and wanted to save money on salaries etc., get a new Leader in... one of those fancy Silicon Valley types that could take us to the next level (or so they think) so they rolled the dice on several projects (using a variety of project names) over a few years.

So here we are millions of dollars spent, nothing to show for it, some of those old Leaders still around for posterity a restructure that was solely that - a restructure and many of our experienced and faithful friends on their way to a new journey in life. Bitter much? Yes, we all saw it coming but in Systems you either comply, are shushed for a bit or eventually pushed out if you don’t drink the koolaide . We all know the risks. Now we are left with the aftermath.
