What is Wal-Mart going to do with all the money from the corporate tax reduction?

They'll use the money to increase margin and cut costs while maintaining the dividend. Those of you who keep voting Republican because of guns and g--s and thinking tax cuts to the 1% will trickle down need to wake up.

We're being told that the tax cut will lead to more jobs but I promise you WMT will have less head count two years from now than they do currently.

@izbj, the article you cite is from 10/10/17, this is when the stock buyback was originally announced. Tax cuts didn't get passed until 12/20/17. Therefore, the stock buyback isn't in response to the tax cuts.

Not going to be spent on buybacks huh? What do you call this? https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.businessinsider.com/walmart-stock-price-20-billion-buyback-announcement-2017-10

The post by @QZ3T22U-1idg is mine too and like in my other one, I didn’t advocate for stock buy backs.

I wasn’t talking about your post, I was talking about @idg. Agree stock buybacks don’t add value, and they are stupid when stock price is high but that’s what they will do with the extra money. Remember they renewed their previous buyback program already? They will also continue their Ecommerce shopping spree

You clearly can’t read. I wrote that the tax cuts would be invested in prices so that our competitive position is improved. I said that they won’t, will NOT, be used for stock buy backs or any other financial maneuvering to run up the stock price. That doesn’t increase the VALUE of the company.

the problem with corporate America is that it’s run by clueless arrogant a--holes like poster below. Thinks it’s a good idea to spend tax cut savings on inflating stock prices through financial engineering and stock buybacks (Which DOES disproportionately benefit Walton family by the way). Employees are merely SG expense, just fire all the work mules and replace them with cheap h1bs, then when those get too expensive completely offshore to cheap foreign slaves. He’ll get his wish, anyone with ability to get another job are preparing to leave or already gone. Remember comrades say NO to KT. Or better give false confusing KT so these a--holes must figure sh-- out themselves. Then maybe they will finally realize how much value these old work mules bring to the table.

Quoting @QZ3T22U-1tll

No! You’re another friggin’ jealous idiot. WM doesn’t exist to enrich the Waltons, it exists to enrich its shareholders, which includes the Waltons. A share buy back would be a one time gain that wouldn’t increase the value of WMT, so why would we do it? To increase the value of WMT to the Waltons and ALL WMT shareholders requires that the value of the company be increased. How? More business. How do we increase business? By increasing traffic? How do we increase traffic? By reducing prices. The tax savings will go into reducing prices, which will increase traffic, which will increase revenue, which will increase the stock price, which will benefit all shareholders, including the Waltons. Stop with the petty jealousy, put on your adult hat, and stop b--ching. I’m so sick of angry, envious people. Grow the F up or get the F out.

“LOL”

What a stupid response. The company doesn’t exist to benefit its employees, it exists to benefit its shareholders. As does every other business in the country. If you want to b--ch or whine about your pay, benefits, or hours why don’t you just quit and go elsewhere? Walmart doesn’t owe you a GD thing. We’re all at will employees who keep our jobs only as long as we bring value to the company. If you cost more than the benefit to WM then you need to go. This isn’t a GD jobs program; we leave that crap to the government. Nobody feels sorry for you so stop whining like a friggin’ baby. New hires? Employees are the largest component of SG&A, why the HELL would we hire more people? Far too many people working for WM are completely ignorant about business. It’s maddening.

This found money will go to the stock buyback program and to increased dividends. This means 50% of it will go to the Waltons. When the number of shares are reduced, the Waltons can sell stock and still maintain control of the company and 50% of its profits.

LOL!!!

Anyone who thinks that money is going into new hires or employees is on heavy medication and probably rides a polka dot unicorn to work.

Have you not been paying attention to anything but American Idol the past 5 years? Bonuses for the execs, stock buybacks for more bonuses for the execs, and various other perks,

Time to wake the F__K up sheeple.

Based on what has occurred over the last 24 months, I am not expecting WMT to increase headcount, Addtionally, the company is still committed to 19% SG&A and reducing non-store expenses, and tax rates have nothing to do with those line items.

Price cuts. Walmart competes on price so it’s natural that any tax benefits will go to reducing prices.
