Does it matter why the H1Bs are hired? As far as I know, most of them are just glad to be employed in the US. This isn't some sort of competition for them. They are employed and making good money. No matter if it is less than a US-born counterpart. It's a whole lot more than not being employed. I know people here who work half a year in the US in retail and then go back to India for half a year and live well with servants and all on what they made here. Imagine how nice it is for those who work for Verizon and can send money back to their families. Bottom line is it doesn't matter to them if they are making less or why they were hired. The point for them is they WERE hired. It doesn't make an American feel better about losing their job to one of them, but maybe you understand a little better. If the tables were turned you'd probably do the same thing if you had the chance. Why not?
