Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Stokes Dynasty

So Power gets a new Leader who couldn’t even run Energy Connections successfully (just look at the EC VIC) and now is at the helm of one of the largest business units of GE. With that came a restructuring at the top that no one could make sense of except that we added layer upon layer of Senior Executives. How can Flannery allow this to happen let alone Stokes? At the same time organizations are being directed to cut from 20-30% of their lower level salaried workforce...(people that are actually adding value). What hypocrisy and false narrative again about all levels feeling the pain! Stokes has Officers reporting to Officers, SEB’s reporting to SEB’s and EB’s reporting to EB’s in addition to adding functional Groups with no value add except to create churn throughout which will require more PowerPoints and report outs. What this mentality suggests is the culture created is people having responsibility with no accountability so we need layers of executives to check on each other. If people are honest with themselves the question that comes to mind do we have the Leadership within anymore to actually turn this mess around...seems like new faces and some old playbook. And don’t forget GE generosity around gving those impacted one week of pay for every year of service while each the Executives leaving walk away with millions! Somehow the level of pain seems out of whack! Mr. Flannery the team is willing to help but only if you start walking the talk and holding your staff accountable for their bloated organizations.... how about a deep dive into each of their directs and what added value they bring other than facilitating metrics and causing constant churn for those trying to deliver for our customers!

typical GE, promote your failures. anyone know Janki? what did he do at Energy Connections. bottom line, GE is doomed as a result of continued failed leadership dating back to at least Welch and his financial manipulation that now makes the Street wary of anything that comes out of GE

Well , let’s see what stokes will learn by running a real GE business capable of making money if run correctly. My prediction he will f-cyk it up. He is nothing more a token set in place to be the fall guy when the sh-t hits fan. I give him 2 years and he will be out the door with some ridiculous incentive package. I have not been impressed with too many power CEO’s frankly. Nadellie was not too impressive and he is the gold standard of CEO’s over the past 25 years but he was a product of the power deregulation era when GE was demanding full deposit for manufacturing slots. Back then GE was printing money. Nardelli would never survive in this era.

Too bad the response prior to this was written by a person who totally undermined the intent of this message to Leadership by their ignorance.

What do you expect of Flannery? He is a GE person through and through. 30 years at GE playing politics, rising to the position of CEO. Like attracts like. GE culture is rotten to its core, so don't expect any miracles from him.

Flannery will turn out to be a shorter version of Immelt. He has been swimming in the same culture all his career , he is just doing lip service ( corp planes) now and too entrenched to change.

Stokes is going to be presenting at the investor meeting on Monday, qualification being everything he touched ( transportation, EC) turned into a dud; Power will be the next victim. After that he can replace Flannery and preside on auctioning off the GE meatball.
