Delivery Fleet Elimination.

Delivery vehicles going away 100% at many locations. Contract carriers will be used if available locally. Otherwise reduced to a maximum of 2 vehicles. Coming soon.

When I first saw this post I thought it was just a bs rumor. Today a car transport showed up st my store. No one in the fleet department called and my DM said he had no idea. Nice communication you jackasses!

Saw this in another post. Makes sense.

From my perspective in H/R, much of this is being driven by large payouts from at fault vehicle accidents and the dollars being awarded in medical liability judgements. In addition, there are more to come as those currently being settled average 2-3 years old. This is also what is driving the elimination of our fleet and the associated liability risk.

Two cars picked up today. Not a big problem as I only have 2 drivers at my store. Everyone else is ineligible to drive. I think we can smoke Amazon if we focus on DIY.

Autonomous delivery vehicles that also do uber runs would be interesting, hell just make everything automated and see how that works out. Epic Fail !!!!

Can't wait to tell my accounts that all expect hot shot deliveries that we'll get them their parts as soon as we can find a willing Uber driver. Imagine their excitement!

By the way, are we also going to pay Uber to pick up cores defects and screw ups?

The store I work at has a new vehicle thAt has been parked for months that was never needed. Who makes these decisions? My DM is afraid to question corporate decisions. No wonder we are failing.

DC drivers will be reduced dramatically when the CQ stores (including independents) only get a weekly DC delivery and pickup.

There are a series of pilot tests underway. One would eliminate company owned delivery vehicles and use Uber and Lyft drivers to deliver parts. The second is a part of the "availability transformation" where multiple stores will share fewer delivery vehicles, with one vehicle dedicated to store to store delivery.

Is this at the store level or DC level (CDL drivers who do nightly deliveries from DC) or both?

Apparently too much liability to continue maintaining a fleet. Maybe if hiring practices improved you wouldn't be paying out so many claims. There is no way contracted delivery drivers will be able to service commercial customers satisfactorily. Looks like another nail in the coffin for AAP.

We don't need them,we have no parts to deliver and no customers to deliver to.They get used mostly by the GM to get coffee and lunch
