People could claim discrimination because they are not laying all salary employees off, just 30%. At the end of the day this is the risk free way of them hand selecting who they want to keep. The good 'o' buddy system. If it were TRULY fair and ethical they would not involve the cell leaders in the interview process, just members of the plant management team and members of HR. That would help eleminate them hand picking who they want instead of who is qualified to perform the job well. The even worse part of this is about 80% of the upper leadership team (cell leaders/hiring managers) are young, not long out of college "kids" who dont have the leadership experience to know to seperate professionalism from elementary school antics such as let me pick my buddies for my team first. The sad reality is the good loyal dedicated leaders will be let go while the "friends" and a$$ kissers will be allowed to stay. Either way the morale is so low at this point even the people who stay on will do so with the full intention of finding a better opportunity elsewhere.

If you’re so upset, then go to college, get a degree, do something. You guys make plenty of money, babe pensions, healthcare, etc, and are bellyaching that these young “kids” have ruined GE! Gimme a break.

If you have a pension or make a good living wage then your on the gauntlet table next. These young kids are afraid to get fired. They have an ego and they run on fear. Push people around. Soon they will fall with the rest of them. Enjoy living in fear of the unknown. Enjoy going to work every day thinking is today going to be my last here. I thought I had a career like many before I. Wishful thinking pecker head. Your egotistical narcissistic ways will crumble when you get the call to go to HR.
