Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

RIFs in Retail?

Lots of talk, obviously, about RIFs "across the board." Anyone know if/how retail might be affected?

They are raising quotas so reps quit and they don't have to lay them off. Anyways if they do layoffs it would be after the holidays. Stores will be busier the next couple months... After that...

My own personal experience is the convenience of shopping online. When the 'local' grocery store offered online shopping I gave it a try. Sat in the comfort of my home and went through the stores website and picked out my groceries and paid for them. Went to the store 2 hours later, called the customer service phone number and 2 minutes later the groceries were in my car and I was on my way home. Not even having to get out of my car. No pushing carts through a store, bagging my groceries, rude people banging into me with their carts, no screaming kids. That is convenience in my book. I am sure sooner than later there will be fewer and fewer in store retail shopping experiences especially in cellular. Why waste your time with people that don't want to wait on you anyway?

That's not what I asked , dipshit. I'm a machine learning major- I don't need your .02 on the future of automation and retail. I want to know if RIFs this year will touch it.

Zero is a pretty finite number there Hank.

So, we're going to become a nation of shut-ins?

Never leaving our homes to be in any type of face-to-face shopping environment.

You sure 'bout dat?

Curious that Amazon bought out Whole Foods (for its retail presence) and continues to push its brand into other brick and mortar establishments like their SWAS concept at Kohl's.

Do you know something the rest of us don't? Do tell, if so.

Retail has zero future. ZERO! Do you understand? Get an education and get a real job or milk it until they fire you and you have to go work at Walmart.

Self service options have been heavily leveraged since 2013 to reduce retail traffic. Where do you think they are going with this? Here's a hint: It is not to benefit retail employees.
