Thing is that it isn't up to her. Her son Chris is running the show not her, she's just a chairwoman. Sure she could advise him but at the end of the day, he's the boss. And I'm pretty sure that their company would do fine without Kmart on their backs.

@Qd7iDkr-1tfk Thing is, it isn't up to JUST her, she has stock holders to answer to. And I'm pretty sure those stock holders don't see a real future with Kmart and perhaps a better future with another company.

@Qd7iDkr-1mrh Yeah I don't think the new administration is going to abide by that. Their number one priority is making money and that LC has become a HUGE success that really doesn't need Kmart anymore. Why would you stick around with a company that's going to be gone next year anyway?!

Well, Mr. Illitch is dead so its really not up to him.

Really not good business to have your name on a beautiful new hockey arena and a dilapidated KMart store.

Though the pizza does s---.

@Qd7iDkr-1uyg All points right on the money. I work in a LC in a Kmart and what's funny is that I think we actually do bring in a good portion of the foot traffic and one of the only few reasons people still go in there. Course that won't save us for being shut down but I bet you if they did, the Kmart will soon close not much longer.

LC is not renewing the contract with KMart. Too much uncertainty with the company and too little foot traffic in the stores to make it profitable

@Qd7iDkr-cwk It maybe profitable more for Kmart than it is for LC. Since their founder pass away not too long ago I feel they know that Kmart is sinking and sinking fast. There is no point in extending a contract with loser of a company like Kmart. They'd rather jump ship to another retailer, perhaps Walmart or Target, I know I would.

Kmart and LC both opened their first store in Garden City Mi, the Kmart closed early this year (sadly).

LC eventually got big, and forced out the wonderful Kmart Cafe's we used to have and the old Popcorn/Frozen Coke/Sandwich stand in each store. I wish they would bring back the Popcorn and the sandwiches, they were a profit center for sure. LC isn't going anywhere, its profitable for both parties.

@Qd7iDkr-bnl I was actually wondering when the contract was up. How ironic that it is up early next year and how bad Kmart has been doing I smell a departure from Kmart and new contract with another retailer, perhaps Walmart?

Well, Kmart and Sears are under the same roof and Kmart has a deal with LC. Though I am actually curious since I work in an LC in a Kmart. I'm guessing they are going to cut ties with Kmart in the near future or they are going with another possible retail location. Either way, looks like I might be losing my job soon.
