Does anyone know if it is receiving clerk and lead in January? And will anyone be left in receiving?

I’d rather work hard with one person who is experienced and cares for the company than to have ten crap workers who could care less and live with mommy.

Full timers are being targeted for their salaries and benefits. But guess what. They are the ones with mortgages and families. They go to work with the drive and determination to have a job tomorrow. These new hires don’t care, call in ALL the time. Half a-- do their jobs and walk around with attitudes hiding from members.

Sams will fall in another 10 years. What does sams offer that you can’t get online or at Walmart? Hell in my area some things are cheaper at Walmart. And i don’t have to pay to walk in there.

If they ask for a detailed list of how to do things, go to the Wire and print out the Routines for your area. That's all the direction they need. It's not our job to teach, that's role model behavior and no one can even hope to get role model raises anymore.

Can't wait for it to all unfold and they fall flat on their a--. Our club is one big disaster no one knows what the hell they are doing. They have talked about talent in the club and promoting and mentoring WHY! Here's one for you Mr. CEO how about stop eliminating the talent in the first place. These days it's best to never take a lead position in the building or go into management. If your looking for something long term don't apply at Walmart or Sam's Club sinking ship. Long term associates are dropping one by one everyday sad.

I'm the receiving lead. I have no day time dock associate and only 1 night receiver and a kind of coverage night guy. We are a low volume club, so I get that this is the way things are. Bare bones. Its been this way for us for years now. The only way my clerk (who is amazing and awesome and the best person i ever worked with and if she reads this will know I wrote this.) survive day to day is by working as a team. My night guy.....some days are good..some days are horrible. Not that I have any input anymore. Seems all the managers in my club tell my team what they need to do, and seem to NOT include me as the receiving team lead.(emails and verbal) Its like I no longer exist in their minds. I got the documentation to prove my point and call them on it.....but does it really matter anymore? I got a team, in which my management "team" constantly cuts my off at my knees or goes behind my back. Normally I would be raising all kinds of hell over this, but..... does it matter anymore and will it do any good? Or will I just be the next one targeted for termination. That's how bad its gotten. As a leader I am proud as hell that my team has tells those managers, "have you talked to my team lead?" But the fact that this is been going on over several weeks and I have heard nothing seems to me that the receiving team lead means nothing now.

Yes I have read and heard all the rumors and stories on this site and by verbal story telling about what is going to happen to us in day receiving, Let me ask something.... my clerk spends as much time on the dock as in the office backing me up, and in the office I back her up. Normal start time for us is around 3:30 am. And we do more most day before 7 am in other clubs. Not kidding. And that's not even including all the random BS mangers have no clue how to do. And then I get included for now reason on a chain email at work about....books. The comment from the invoice clerk from the club that started the whole friggen email chain that included the entire market about street date books... (she was not aware how street books were marked or packed, since she is the invoice clerk and didn't work the on the dock) She has no clue how stupid she sounded to the entire market and the fact that the HO contact was "so glad" to be in contact with someone so knowledgeable in the field was amazing.

Sam's Club is a sinking ship. My only goal at this point is the last until I can get my severance package.

The sooner the better! :)

How do these managers get to be managers anyways? They have NO clue what we do on a daily basis or what it all entails. They come & ask US how to do things or just expect us to do it for them. Shouldn't they at least know what we do or know how to do it for themselves? I'm tired of the attitude I get if the phone isn't answered. Uh, maybe it's because I'm not sitting on my a-- in the office waiting for the phone to ring. I'm out on the dock, working! What happened to "HAPPY TO HELP"? Oh, that was the slogan before all the job cuts. Now it's "WHO GIVES A Sh--". Happy F-ing Holidays!

Unfortunately this ties in with nightshift moving to days. They will probably expect the overnight lead and manager to do what receiving clerk and lead did. And you know they won't catch on. Gonna be a storm for sure! Might not even be true, but time will tell...

I concur, just had a manager ask how to activate an item number. There are so many things we do as leads and clerks, no one really knows. It's a shame we are being pushed out. Do they really think we are going to stay ?

1iir - AMEN. No one in our club knows how to do even half of what my receiving clerk and I (lead) know. My dock associate only knows the dock. Can't wait to hear about all the screw-ups when we are gone. Happy to leave...

Rec lead here. They took the clerk away for MIT like 8 months ago. On my feet from start to finish. A gross part of my day is spent helping other coworkers and cleaning up after others...

What about other long term partners (20 to 30 years) in other areas like sales floor, fresh, overnight stockers or even floor team leads? Are they keeping these people? Oh and what about pharmacy?

I feel like they are looking at the bottom line, it's all about the money. Most of these positions are held by long term associate. They " home office" have been looking for a way to eliminate us for sometime now. I am very sad and hurt to think all my years of service and dedication means absolutely nothing to our company.

I am the lead in receiving and I work my butt off everyday. I spend a lot of time cleaning up after night receiving because 1 person running and racking freight does not get it. And then I start my day. Everyday I say when they get rid if me who is going to do all this. They don't care. I know my manager will be upset if or when this happens. He counts on us in receiving for all kinds if tasks.

As for the person that says they are glad because there people are lazy don't punish all us because of some. Fire them and get folks that will work.

Your club may have day receiving that works hard but trust us, there are a lot of clubs where day receiving might receive one truck a day. They'll spend hours sitting in the office doing nothing. We've complained forever and it's nice to see something finally will be done about it.

I don't know about other clubs but our receiving clerk and lead do a lot.....a part timer is never going to be able to do it all....receiving day trucks , checking in ups and fed ex , handling the donations going out the door , checking in all the local vendors , beer , wine etc....scheduling deliveries ....ordering supplies ....ha ! I want to see anyone else in the club receive 50 cases of books filled with several sku's each when the ASN does not work , which is every time the books are delivered.....and this is just the tip of the iceberg.....who is going to make all those calls about correcting freight issues or scheduling work orders etc,,,,,,,indeed the people making these changes don't know their hineys from a hole in the ground and they are not going to believe the crap storm coming due to eliminating key people and jobs......only a hand full of people in our club know how to do these things and when that severance comes along they will leave behind all those who know nothing .....I am not a receiving clerk or lead but I know how things are.....if left to our manager's devices our club would be out of business in short order.......

I have a contact at home office that has given me the following information: The final phase of the layoffs will be rolled out in Jan but not go into effect until after Feb. Membership manager and lead will officially go away. A new grocery manager position will be posted. Jewelry lead, backroom lead, receiving leads will all be eliminated. Claims will be the only full-time position in the backroom left on day shift other than part time only. PTC will also be eliminated, drug test going away, background checks are done thru email, each mgr will be responsible for hiring and training their own associates and managing their time adjustments, schedules, exceptions etc.. APMs will take on new roles with a name change of experience protection still being debated. Merch ops positions eliminated in lower tier clubs.
