Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Received text message 11/12/17 50% off all tools

Today at noon I get correction that yesterday’s text should have read

“UP TO” 50% off

Took an incredible 24 hours to realize the error??

Wonder how many people cashed in on yesterday’s incorrect text

"you have to honor the price posted" in many states, but I'd think that's only applicable to the pricetag on the shelf (which half the time isn't updated to reflect discounts these days, just keeps saying the higher original price the whole time), not a general percent-off claim in a text message.

Depends on the state. In Massachusetts, the department of weights and measures takes pricing accuracy seriously. With certain exceptions, you have to honor the price posted if something rings up at a higher price at the register. Many people don't know this and many stores choose not to know this but it's the LAW here.

Did the company have to honor it? I wonder what the rules are?
