Right now, there's a HUGE uptick in new hire training. Normally, this happens in October to mid-November.

We've had roughly 5 or 6 heads in a class all year, but the last 3 have had close to 20 a piece.

This is NOT normal holiday hiring. This is staffing for something else.

My guess is replacements for those getting the "chop."

Good luck to all...and may the odds be ever in your favor.

I doubt if SS will be cut this round.

From what I understand after the beginning of next year there will be a reduction in Solutions Specialists of roughly 20%. These will be people on disciplinary action and are from the bottom 20%. Retail traffic is down because people are becoming more comfortable with shopping online. Additionally providing better incentives at indirect locations will drive traffic there. This saves Verizon in staffing which is a huge savings to the company. I hope that answers your question. If you are a decent employee your job is 100% safe even with the proposed store closures.
