I worked for a short while at a Gap store. The Store Manager before me would literally just lock the door and if someone was in the store that he suspected of stealing, he would walk up to him and say "drop it." He wouldn't open the door until he got back the merchandise. Lucky for him it didn't ever get violent. Of course we did have a "faux" security guard out front of our store in those days.

@qoo Some of the younger guys call him "Batman", sometimes he just walks around hiding behind racks watching customers for an hour or so, then he goes back to his office. He nails at least two people a week

Mine doesn't leave things outside like that to risk being stolen. That aside, my manager has mentioned a couple times recently that we are unfortunately a "high theft" store. :\ We've had some rather bold shoplifters in the past few months. Wish these people got caught more, though too bad I wasn't there to see security tackle a guy to the floor some weeks ago, as I later heard about. lol

Your store manager is handcuffing people? Lol. That’s not just against Sears rules, it’s illegal. Too funny.

@pqy: Your store manager seems to be a rare one that cares about the place, but if the higher ups ever found out he was doing that, he could get in big trouble. Sears and many other retailers makes it a point that shoplifters are hands off to non-AP and violating that policy could get you fired.

@pqy Your SM has balls he actually is out their doing something productive hell he is actually earning his pay check. Funny thing my SM is the opposite opens his big mouth full of himself. Bosses everyone around I never seen him at a register ringing up all he does is stay in his office calling for #'s doing nothing to earn his paycheck.

Our SGM takes it personal, even carrying his own handcuffs. I was working register near the door and next thing I know he’s got some dude on the floor handcuffed and he’s yelling at me to call the police. He walks by with the guy mumbling “nobody steals from my store”. He told me he used to work loss prevention at Meijer back in the late 80’s.

Place is crazy.
