Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Just submitted my app for AT&T :)

They were smart and bought companies that are actually still in business. They are providing services that people actually want. People don’t want hum or go90. They want directv and HBO. They don’t care about NFL mobile. Plus Verizon is losing exclusivity on it anyway. I heard you can make some serious cash if you sell a couple directv a month. Sad thing is as an SS I won’t get a rif or severance. I’ll just have to jump off the titanic before it s---s us all under water with it. God bless you all. Best of luck!!!

RIF trumps the non compete. Voluntary separation, no can do.

"Use caution. If you get RIF'd and sign the severance agreement, there may be a non-compete in there. '

Not in mine earlier this year. The only major restriction (apart from giving up legal rights!) was not to try to recruit people for 12 months after last day on payroll.

Truth - AT&T su¢ks ballz. They are just as bad if not worse than Verlieson. Have friends that crossed over years ago and go thru this same $hit every year - grass aint no greener over there son. but do what you gotta do.

Use caution. If you get RIF'd and sign the severance agreement, there may be a non-compete in there. While I find it doubtful Blue is any different from Red right now, you may be walking away from a significant chunk of change (depending on your years of service) if you go work at a competitor, or possibly legal action.

If you're RIF'd, read it carefully before signing. If your new gig violates the terms, it may be better not to sign it and have a sure job than to sign away some of your rights for a big payday.

Take the advice to speak with an attorney. Most will offer you a free consultation. Just take your severance agreement with you.

I should clarified...one of my former T-Mo brethren that (up until recently) worked at AT&T. Sorry. :-)

One of my former T-Mo brethren down in Florida was (up until a few days ago) a GM down there.

She informed me they are laying off a lot of folks. She, proactively, quit and is now selling Lularoe.

AT&Ts focus is on saving the bloodbath which is the exodus from their DirecTV brand. I believe the number was 446k subscribers leaving last quarter? That's a lot!

Comcast, on the other hand, is where the growth is right now, and VZ folks are EXTREMELY attractive over there, due to the launch of XM (Xfinity Mobile, which is rebranded VZ).

If there's a store in your area and an opening, do yourself a favor and apply.

I'm headed there on the 27th and actually got a promotion and a nice raise in the process.

I wish each of you in my VZ family the VERY best of luck.

Until our "angry, old white males" leadership decides to step aside, this company will continue its slide downhill. SO sad.

Whoever said Ummm they’re laying off too, ur either a SM (there r only a few of ya’ll left to do “absolutely” nothing & get paid that higher salary rate whar for if someone were to ask u) or “Just to make it seem like ones” to show the grass ain’t greener on the other side). They’re “Protected” with CWA. They’ll b Good for sure unlike us here who just do the actual job and xtra work to keep their paycheck rolking every month. Its us in reality who do all the hard work busting our a off & who actually gets paid based on that fake a ranker system? The answer is ya’ll!!! So why do we have to work hard to make “U” guys the money? Why can’t we work for ourselves & make that money for us & Verizon who actually pays us? Why can’t b there only 1 or mostly 2 managers overseeing us? Bcz they’re wayy too busy cashing in or just eating up company’s OT and/or doing nothing?? I mean this position is just a joke for God’s sake!! So it’s like Oh do this( bcz thats what pays me & don’t worry abt the rest, as long as my expenses r covered this month, I ain’t gonna bother u kinda mentality). Why do we gotta offer ourselves like slaves to them? Why not raise voice against it all for once? We do a lot fo this Billions of $$$$$$$s worth of a company & we should get rewarded for all the hard work we put in a “RIGHTEOUS” and not the so called SMs way. They act like they’re writing “Us” a paycheck. Give ya’ll a break on that!!

Good decision my friend & don’t forget u r protected under CWA( meaning no slavery, period..no helping the lazy SMs fill up those pegs & just pleasing “Them”, showing up wayyyy too early with no OT btw & scanning phones, showing up for those so called meetings without getting paid for it even if they’re on ur days off, “NOT” getting written up for performance, etc) Ur def not just a # there. Good Luck to you!
