My dad just got laid off... After nearly three decades with the company... He is crushed... I've never seen him look so defeated... I feel so helpless and angry... The best I can do is drop any service I have that is provided by Verizon... I know they don't care... Won't even feel it... But that's the only thing I can do... Verizon does't give a damn about its most loyal employees!

So he was likely instructed to call to remove the account from EPP, don’t bother. They will pull the discount and any remaining 2 year contracts within a bill cycle. DP agreements are your responsibility. Consider that when porting.
Sorry to hear the news. Good luck to you all.
It's not just Verizon. People need to spend some time reading "Latest Posts" for an eye opener.
Keep your discount. Be pragmatic.
32 years when I got chopped in 2015, your dad can be a retiree and get the discount for a long time! Best thing that happened to me, great severance full pay and benefits for 44 weeks. No more stress from the toxic work environment. Started living again! Yes the initial shock was tough, I didn't get my retirement party lol Your dad will be fine.
I assume he's getting more than half a year severance. Dude, mourn a little but then get another job lined up, take a long vacation, and then go on with life. I have a feeling these people getting the severance will be the lucky ones in the long run. The rest get stuck with the extra work and uncertainty.
If you are getting discounts stay for 30 days after the last day of employment.
But where else can you get Hum!?
Sorry to hear. The days of any company loyalty towards the rank and file are long gone. Tell you dad, he is NOT defined by his job and it's not his fault - times have changed. They have recruiting services that can assist with job placement.
If you are on his 50% off plan do NOT drop. They wont remove you any time soon. Take the bastards for all you can get.
