Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

RIF'd after 15 Years...

Nothing like this happened even in 2008/2009, and the atmosphere feels far, far worse than even those days did. 15 years in Ops and now they dont need me all of a sudden?

Don't tell me this is "Normal" or "temporary"

It ain't, and when you get your notice and realize you suddenly have no way to pay your bills or mortgage, it'll hit home with you too.

The problem with Verizon for years is that they hired lazy good for nothing employees in Network Operations and did nothing about it. Then they started riffing and got rid of some dead wood and good people at the same time. The excellent workers got more and more work and the bums got less . The bums were political butt

Smooches. The reward for over producing and working 60 hr weeks was a job and high blood pressure, no sleep and being insulted by reporting to incompetent mgrs. Who were also political hacks. Glad I am gone .

Very sorry for your loss. I had enough of this morally bankrupt company and I left in February. I gave them 30 years and couldnt buy a Rif. I went through 15 years of this garbage. I survived only to take more work on from those that left. There are no winners in this game. I hated my mgr and director so much I couldn't be in the same room with them . Use your anger to focus and get another job . Best to you.

RIFs of long-term employees has happened for years I joined in 1985 and a lot of older people got RIFd soon after. When RIFs happen to you, yes suddenly it's very personal, but they have been a way of life at least on the wireline side.

With 15 years didn't you get a package? I would assume you got 5-6 month severance ??
