i got a call from VP telling me that this morning. Verizon ITIM team. Since my manager was RIF"d too I guess, he had to reliever the news.

When I got it last year, depending on your state, you can file 12/31 but the company will refuse to kick in their portion until the severance period has expired.
Regarding unemployment whether you can receive benefits while you still have severance dollars depends on what state you are in. In other words in some states if you have 8 months severance you can't get benefits till the end of those 8 months.
