our team has been hit already, we lost some good people... it all happened this morning, nothing's been happening since... everybody is still very tense, we're not sure if we can relax at least a little bit... do they usually notify everybody at the same time or do they spread it out throughout the day?

Typically leadership holds an all hands meeting in the afternoon letting the survivors know the RIF is over. Should also include a pep talk about bearing down and picking up the load of your peers that were lost.
This is the annual VZ layoff on the last payday before Thanksgiving.. (This is the easiest time for VZ regardless of how difficult it makes it for the employees) Those cold hearted bastards do this every single year.. There are supplemental layoffs during the year, usually at least one. I am guessing there will be more in January.. The most you can expect is 6 months of peace at VZ. Twice a year all employees go through the anguish of wondering if they are going to lose their job and what impact it will be if it happens. If they manage to survive, they are concerned for their colleagues that were let go. Its an awful cycle. One that VZ doesnt give a rats about. I might have to move to India to stay employed at VZ.
I'm in the same boat
Generally those affected are notified individually first thing in the morning. The rest get a calendar invite for a group call to talk about the new structure. I have no group calendar invite for today, which makes me nervous.

Thank you for posting this. I was wandering the same thing.
Usually they do the notifications and then call the safe people together to let them know they are safe.
No relaxing before tomorrow. Hopefully it won't last longer.
