Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Verizon iPhone question

Serious question, here it goes: if I sold hundreds of iPhones just this year, would that make me eligible to apply for a position at Apple? I've been busting my behind for years here, think it's time to move on to greener pastures. And couldn't think of more greener than Apple.

Looking forward to your answers, just for laughter, of course. Think we all need it today.

You’re eligible to apply to work at Apple, full stop. You should do your homework, though. They hire people they like/want to work with, who will use their skills and talents to impact the company for the better. That being said, I made it through two interviews with Apple (group interviews in a public setting, ugh) and received an offer. And turned it down because a part time job at Apple would not replace my full time job at Verizon.

Your interviewers likely don’t care how many iPhones you’ve taken payment for, nor should they. iPhones get customers in their doors- your job would be to expand on that ecosystem and add on iPads, computers, watches, and most especially, services.

I mean, you’re eligible to apply for a position at Apple if you’re fresh out of high school and haven’t sold anything ever. Not sure what you’re asking.

Add 'With an advanced engineering degree' to your qualifications and I'd say Apple would love to have you. Otherwise s--- it up and go get your Al Bundy on.

Let me level set with you - you haven't sold a single iPhone - you took orders for iPhones, selling implies that you've convinced someone that they should buy. 99.9% of folks buying iPhones have already been sold on it before they walk into our stores.

It's order taking, it's not sales.

I don't know you and I am making an assumption that you are a great, skilled and smart guy - all three attributes should make eligible for a job with Apple - however, listing iPhone sales as your differentiating ability will not get you anywhere.
