Has anyone else noticed the retail stores are slow as crap. All these ppl in unique positions talking down to retail. Saying it’s all going digital and they should just pay hourly. Well without us front line retail folks you’re not here. We make this whole thing go.

Sales quotas are rediculous! l am projected to make 4K less then last November. Verizon is promoting people to buy phones online, then sending them to stores to get assistance with setup. Pay your employees what they’re worth!
VZW will be getting out of brick and mortar retail. Buy your phones online , call customer service for plan issues and go to a premium retailer for face to face service. This is the future, embrace it!
Are Apple stores dead? No, because they're relevant. VZ stores lack enticing customers to want to come and buy. There's no real marketing or collaborations with other partners that have awesome products. VZ senior leadership lack innovation...at least T-Mobile partners with Netflix. VZ leadership is too busy buying non-relevant companies like AOL and Yahoo...it's a mess and will stay that way until grandpa Lowell and the other non-relevant leaders are gone! It's a sad state of affairs...so glad I no longer own stock!!
I am not even halfway to my quota and it is November 17, I am one of the top reps in my store. If I do get a customer it is usually an issue not a sale, and very rarely growth.

I am still surprised at how many carrier stores there are (not just in the US). We don't have, for example, a Maytag store in every high street (presumably people buy washing machines less often than new phones, perhaps VZ should move into white goods!) But presumably the carriers believe either that there is still some value, or are afraid that if they are the first to leave, the competition will take a lot of customers. Don't see it myself....
At some point it will occur to people that the economy has stalled out.
What will it take for this to dawn on them?
Highest number of bankruptcies and retail store closures ever? Yes, 2017 is the highest ever.
Empty stores everywhere in malls?

There is a small retail mall in a small town...only cell dealer within 15 miles...near me. It is very rare I see anyone in the store other than a sales person. I have been there many different times of the day and the same thing. Sales are going online-mail order, or Big Box. Its just the way it is. Progress!
Just picked up a new phone on my retiree plan. Store (next to a huge regional mall) was totally empty. Employees looked like zombies, probably still shook up over yesterday. The glory days ARE behind us for sure.
Once upon a time this was a growth business. Retail was the way most consumers purchased goods and people who never had a phone before rushed in to get their hands on the latest technology: a phone you could use anywhere. It was exciting.
Then GTE Mobilenet, and later Verizon built many many stores to meet this demmand. All the stores were super busy and sales reps would make $120k a year.
Fast forward to today and better deals may be found online, everyone has a phone and growth comes from stealing customers from the competition. Retail across all businesses is getting hammered by more efficient, cheaper online sellers. Stores are empty paying expensive leases and full of expensive employees getting paid to do nothing. They are no longer a good business or better left to a contractor (indirect).
Do you see where this is going? I know you are probably about 15 years old and we're not around for the glory days but that is the way it is.
It's pretty basic. T-Mobile is putting up a serious fight, you can do everything from the MyVerizon app, and- seriously- who needs to be sold anything in this day and age? I work retail, and I legitimately sell something maybe once a week. People know what they're talking about, they know what they want or need, and there's not much you can do to convince them otherwise. That's why integrity is taking such a hit right now.
I work in retail, and you're kind of missing the big picture. "We make this whole thing go" is less and less true as time marches on. But don't feel too bad, because by 2030 most Americans will have been automated into irrelevance. Retail will actually be one of the last holdouts.
