How many in total were let go? Massive layoffs should get media coverage so people can choose to boycott companies laying off American workers and sending jobs offshore.

I heard "mass" layoffs. First of this magnitude and around $16,000 employees across the nation.
There is coverage !!! It is right here on this site.
Right around 1,200 got the axe this week...😢
What I have been able to gather it was about 800 on the network side.
Verizon Enterprise was hit HARD. Have also heard from colleagues in other groups such as VBM, Global Products and Solutions, etc that they had some significant impacts as well. I don’t think anyone will ever know the true scope of a layoff. Company keeps those details hidden where possible.
Based on everything I heard, IT and Network were affected. No wireline, no customer support, no retail, no corp functions, no sales, etc. BUT... both IT and Network were hit hard. There is no way in hell it was 16K, my estimates are in a 1000 to 2000 range.
16,000 is roughly 10% across the board. Which makes me wonder if the manager had been told (by someone who really knew!) that was the number, or if this was just an echo of the 10% rumor.
I was notified that I was laid off yesterday. My manager said at least 16,000 employees were "impacted".

There is some media coverage. While this may be the biggest thing in your life right now, it’s not the biggest thing happening in the world. It absolutely s---s to be laid off, and I sympathize, but in the grand scheme of the world/country it isn’t that big of a deal.
If you were impacted, as I was earlier this year, I wish you the best.
