Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Nothing to do with performance

I was impacted in first round of layoffs. Whole teams were let go then so obviously it had nothing to do with performance. I think people are always looking for answers as to WHY certain people were laid if....AND sometimes there is no answer..it depends on the role, department, etc. So there is no way to tell if you will be impacted, I believe it is true that sometimes the coaches don't know also, don't forget many coaches have been laid off too. So no sense agonizing over reviews.... you may get let go if you're a high performer or low performer it depends what their criteria is for that particular Department. Hope everyone impacted gets comparable jobs, I did but it was a nerve wracking experience.

So true, @QhGK3dQ-1sxy , thanks for posting this.

To the last poster - I was in the first round of layoffs and whole teams were laid off - obviously each team has its high performers and low performers so no - it had nothing to do with quality at least in that round anyway I think the criteria is always different it seems. So no one should think they're necessarily safe if there are a high producer - that's just the reality of the situation I hope everyone impacted gets comparable jobs I did but it sure was a lot of stress. And as to all the fuss about the PHC's doing care plans I was a HCC in the SNP program and we did care plans for years. I have a BSW and I did not give out medical advice just general information. Although Humana did give us training in diabetes, hypertension, etc. I am not a nurse and felt like Humana was pushing the ethical boundaries and I would not talk in detail about those conditions, even though it seemed Humana wanted us too. I would just say general things like try to exercise, try to eat the right foods, see yr PCP regularlyl, etc. I was always very careful what I said it always and would tell them to seek the guidance of their doctor if they had any medical questions.

I'm sure that a good number of the first round layoffs did have to do with performance. I got a lot of other people's members afterward who had skimpy or missing documentation, no assessments completed and other signs that people were just not doing their jobs properly. Not everyone, of course, but enough to make me believe that many people were laid off due to performance. Later layoffs were not so clear. Some great work documented and some lousy work documented. Who knows the magic algorithm for layoff?

My coach told me to ‘not take it personal’ that I was laid off. How’s that for not rating.

I don’t think my coach likes me as compared to others on my team, and I wasn’t impacted...there’s another thread with a great posting on it, the layoffs were about positions, not people, that persons posting makes sense

I am a bit different from the typical nurse HAH role. Metrics are pushed down my throat yet, we still need to maintain quality. So, I stay late, skip breaks, skip lunch, or come in early the following day to meet metrics. I actually make it a point to exceed the minimum expected daily. I make sure I do all the learning modules/learning pieces required of me, and I continually ensure I make myself available as requested as a "team player." I help whenever asked, even if it does mean staying late. and I am gone...

The butt kisser on the team who is rude to other team members and is the captain of that cheerleading team you speak of...still here. She works well beyond the rest of us on the team. It does not seem to be a rhyme or reason we all were chosen. Personally, I think it is a popularity contest. Try to better yourself by seeking certifications in your field, going back to school for a graduate degree, asking for further opportunities at Humana to learn more skills to enhance promote-ability later on in the company...stuff like that makes people jealous, especially if your leader has less experience or less education than you and no certifications. There are conflicting posts about your coach rates you or doesn't rate you...you are being rated on many levels. The answers your coach provides are his/her opinion & unfortunately if they don't like you, that will be reflected in your ratings.

Right. I’m a phc who has never skipped a lunch or breaks, never works over, quality reviews are so-so at best, my numbers are what they are, and I never kiss butt. I’m still here.

My friends who would stay an hour late, miss lunch, cheerlead Humana constantly, and stress over numbers - they are gone.
