Walmart Labs in India to power the company's future: Jeremy King

It is about time we expand our India operation. I have to assume this will create some reductions in California but the talent in India is very good and cost effective.

Thanks for sharing this article..This article gives more insight than Jeremy's...

"But I think what we are also trying to do is especially as we are building up India and realizing that we were able to hire well in India. You know we decided that it would behoove us to go ahead and hire this really strong talent"

"So, I would say that a lot of the next generation stuff we probably are biasing more towards full time associates that we want to obviously have around for a long, long time."

She's already giving us a clue who's going to be saved in the next round of cuts...

Did everyone see this article. JKs right hand person.

http://www.businesstoday.in/opinion/interviews/work-we-do-in-india-helps-walmart-integrate-the-physical-and-digital-experiences/story/264463.html

Summary of the article "technology chops from Walmart Labs India powers several of its global innovations, supply chain management and consumer technology offerings. Work we do in India helps Walmart integrate the physical and digital experiences.

They got rid of the leaders in Bentonville and replaced them with people in California. Whats next?

Response to not your friends: they are also rude. I can’t count the number of times a h1b has asked me for assistance, I’ve abliged, and communication just stops from my last reply. No thank you or anything. That annoys me more then the smell of the break rooms . (There should be random fresh mists in those rooms for everyone’s sake)

rwy you are spot on. American associates at isd in general have super plush jobs basically glorified status collector and “big ideas guys”. Now JK and others have decided the Indians in India “managing” themselves are cheaper - and associates and h1bs in ISD will be the losers.

Quote from the JK link

“We work in a local ownership model, so 90% of the work is done (in Bengaluru) independently. ”

ISD bentonville used to be like this. Now there are 90 h1bs for every 10 associates.

Writing is on the wall folks, India based (associates) are taking all of your jobs. They are not your friends, don’t continue to be foolish thinking you are so safe because your team of 20 Americans is now down to 5 managing 50 Indians... you may have just played yourself

There’s plenty of politicians on both sides that have voted the jobs away.

It’s about more than abortion and gun control these days folks. WAKE UP! It’s now about whether or not you can earn a paycheck, a living wage, have days off to spend with family, or retire. Our politicians from BOTH parties have voted the American Dream away.

To the person recommending people to reach out to congress. Most of this boards users probably are in bentonville. Most are conservative and have voted all worker rights away because that’s the Walmart way. Only recently past few years with the more common layoffs and other parts of the company getting better then Bentonville with all of the h1bs do people care now. I say that this has been a long time coming over the past 10 years since harvest... smh

While you guys are complaining, you probably voted for the politicians that made it legal to give your jobs away. If you want to do something more than complain, contact your congressman about it. And VOTE!

Make sure you research how your congressman has voted in the past about workers rights. Don’t just listen to the campaign commercials. Those are generally bologna anyhow.

You can’t afford to vote just based on Republican or Democrat anymore. Not if you want to have a job.

Also, if you’ve left the company, you can publicize what’s going on with the H1B abuse and encourage friends and family not to shop places that offshore American jobs.

If Americans want jobs they are going to have to vote for workers rights and make it a point to buy American made.

Other than that, you’re just making noise. Period.

I heard today JK requested a ton of more space in India for next year. So this is inline with the article. We wonder what will happen to the Bentonville retail team.

If Button nose loves Walmart India so much he should move there. We would sure love to be liberated from him and his poor judgment. This is not an american company anymore might as well start shopping at aldi.

I have to laugh when walmart announces military hiring initiative's, or investing in American made products and Manufacturing. When at the same time, the same very time they are flooding the company with H-1B workers, who are taking jobs that a fair amount of Americans and are qualified for.

I don't blame the actual H-1B workers, I know they are just trying to provide better for their families and start a life in the US. I do though, see a lot of H-1B workers being forced to work long hours, and if any of them speak up, and get fired, then they have to be out of the country in a of month.

It is modern day slavery

Let’s not forget this has been going on for some time now. I remember KAt being interviewed saying similar things. Also again I remember (Jae from infrastructure) praising the high aes scores from India compared to the USA. KAt praise interview for India

Interesting how JK mentions job losses in California, does he forget he’s got ISD division in Bentonville? Does he not realize morale here is rock bottom already, now we are simply ignored? The beatings will continue until morale improves?

I find it more laughable that JK thinks that innovation will come from that region. Having worked with people from there for 20 years, it won't happen. Thanks JK, you convinced me once again that I made the right choice to leave Walmart.

H1bs already the majority at David Glass some days you hear Indian languages more often than English. Probably cheaper to hire the Indians directly in India rather than ship them out here and pay extra visa expense, no? Americans, steer your kids away from IT there is no future for an American programmer IT analyst thanks to sellout corporations and globalist politicians.

For better or for worse, this is what got our current president elected. “Mr. President, if you (or your friends, the Russians) are listening, PLEASE do something about the rampant outsourcing of jobs overseas!”

This will only mean that more people in America working for Walmart will lose their jobs. Not so brilliant to the families effected.
