Getting rid of people withouth severance

I am 51 and have always had outstanding performance reviews and suddenly everything I do is being questioned. I was told the things I am not doing (nor is anyone else in my department) is an issue. I was given until 1/2/18 to turn it around, along with a very long list of "must do's" if I want to keep my job. The requirements of me being able to accomplish half of what's on this list is ridiculous, even if I did work 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The writing is on the wall. I never thought that after giving 110% for 12 years, I would be discriminated against because of my age, but this appears to be the case. Sadly, I don't think being terminated under false circumstances qualifies for any type of severance, at least I will get my bonus and profit sharing. Maybe it's time someone took a stand and consulted an attorney. I just might take my own advice.

You are not the only one in this, @PRjLQCO-nhan. My dad, who is 53, is in nearly identical situation to yours. He is stressing so much, it's affecting his health. He gave his life to this company, and this is how they repay him?

I worked there for 17 years and ALL of a sudden my position was "terminated". I came in on time did my work and there are certain people that do not come to work on time and leave early (never working a 8 hour day). But because they are close friends with the manager and VP they get away with it.

Agree. The company seems to be in the right frame of mind for this. Ask them to eliminate your job (package) or package you out.

It sounds like you've been burdened with a "Performance Improvement Plan," unattainable by design. Have you considered taking control of the situation by offering to depart immediately in return for a severance package plus pro-rated bonus and profit sharing?

I just recently found a new job and quit Fidelity for the same thing dedcribed. It is so blatant and disturbing the DOJ should be involved. Fidelity is a company that manages lin a 1920s style. It all started when Abby Johnson and Kathy Murphy teamed up tp lead the company.

I contracted there for a bit after being away for about 8 years. I couldn't believe how grey the hair was of alot of my colleagues. I guess the stress of working there is great. Getting laid off may not be a bad thing.
