Marketing, receiving, PTC will go next. Should be by the end of January. Claims will be the only full time that will be saved. Marketing is no longer needed as they can pay third parties to sell for them like Groupon, etc. I’m sorry but our marketing doesn’t do much sales. The deals are better online than what they offer so it’s really not their fault to have to compete with the company they are selling for. Not to mention all the mileage and payroll being wasted. They have a 4 person team that drives an average of 500 miles each and will bring in maybe 15-20 memberships each. The dollars don’t make sense.

Does anybody know if this tidbit on receiving is based on something concrete or is it just guessing?

What about the receiving team lead position is it being eliminated or restructed?

Market teams in our area are two people they don't drive 500 miles and it isn't an easy job.

1bzv Why need another grocery team lead when there already is one? Membership manager/lead being deleted but not coordinator and champion? Optical being bought out by what company? So many more questions....... I feel as if you compiled all the info on this site into one post. eyeroll

I have confirmed with my Gm that by January there will be several more departments hit. All gms know. They received the info already. I’m leaving and we have always been pretty close so i was let in the loop. I have spoke openly with many managers about what’s supposed to be coming.

Membership team, team lead and manager being deleted. They will be using social media and other third party avenues. They will also be consolidating the tiers of membership.

Receiving - night crew will be coming to a early and late shift. 4a-12p or 4pm-12a (some may be 3-11). No more overnights so no night manager will be needed. Receiving clerk will be eliminated as well. New software will deviate the current processes eliminating the need for the receiving team. Also with the new shifts they won’t be needed.

Claims will be the only full time associate that stays in the back rooms.

PTC will be eliminated. No more drug tests and all hiring and backgrounds will be done by email by the managers doing the hiring.

A new restructure will create a new grocery manager and team lead. All of the managers and leads will be given more duties.

Jewelry lead will be eliminated having the center lead take over jewelry and only having part time workers doing both jewelry and clothing.

Optical is being bought out by a third party company and will remain in the club like the demos where our current optical workers will have the opportunity to apply with them.

receiving to go next? well all this person is talking about is marketing. Will someone that actually knows how receiving works tell us what you think is going to happen? We can all speculate but the real receiving associates have heard and can see things changing especially the clerks. We all know something is going to happen but it's to busy to get rid of us yet. They will wait till after the holidays and get the new spring stuff in before they cut their loses.

Receiving workload has shifted away from the dayside, at least at my club. I know I read things here about team leaders and receiving office working real hard, and I'm sure some of them do. But our daytime receivers have literally sat and done nothing for an entire 8 hour shift before. All of the paperwork is being shifted out of the office and it's definitely showing that they're going to be eliminated.

The purge has started. Marketing departments are being eliminated as we speak. They are marching employees in and accusing them of "integrity issues" as old as two years then firing them. Managers are being told that since there are no employees to supervise, they can accept a demotion to the customer service desk.
