Thread regarding Chicago Bridge & Iron layoffs

CBI is in this position for a reason...

The real problem with the company is the culture and work ethic. No one takes personal responsibility for ANYTHING. Everyone just passes the blame down the line constantly. It's exhausting and it will never change because the company is buried in it's own toxic ways.

Also, I've been here for 6 years and most of the people I work with at CBI are unproductive and just generally bad at their job. It starts at management and goes all the way down. I have never worked with so many incompetent people in my life.

I agree with all of you, doesn’t matter if you are working in the plants or in the office. Cbi really is a terrible place to work. I know my job was literally always threaten when I was with them. I agree no one takes resposibility for there actions. The blame just trickles down the chain of command. I have seen where management made a mistake an lay off 90 people just to hire them back 2-3 months it was crazy. Too keep my sanity o will never work for them again.

I agree with all that is said so far only I have been there longer than six years. I have watched the company erode. CB&I grew to fast, tried to make the work process automated (CMS) so they could cut down on labor cost by hiring incompetent people. Started charging vendors to bid on their jobs (material link, what a racket). Who does CB&I think they are?

Basically management has been sold a bag of crap over the years and they were not smart enough to know it. All they seen was dollar signs.

Fully agree, I see this from project manager/director level and down. Compared to our peers, CB&I management is under the firm belief that it is a construction company and we should behave as Bubba's Construction. Also, promoting incompetent personnel who act as bosses moles is another significant negative among in all the departments.

What you are describing is happening in most American corporations. It is not specific only to CBI.
