Thread regarding Sears layoffs

To All of You Working the Holiday....

Best of luck to all of you guys in stores this Thanksgiving holiday weekend. As much as I dislike being unemployed (laid off in the June/July bloodbath) the one bright spot is the fact I don't have to stare at the morons in the corporate Sears "war room" Thanksgiving night as the sheer incompetence of Sears executives is on full display. Incorrect promotional loads, missing signing in the system, KitchenAid mixers that disappear from the inventory system. Mainly, senior level executives who are totally MIA or unable to resolves issues. The inevitable "rolling wave" of the antiquated POS system crashing from coast-to-coast is always a highlight. The worst part? All of these issues are repeated from year to year.

Despite it all I have the utmost respect for the store associates who miss time with their loved ones trying to deal with angry "members" and the indifference of your highly compensated "leadership". Take care of yourselves. Don't take it too seriously, as it's not a "real retailer" but rather a holding company of real estate for Seritage.....

Ahh...gotta love it the sarcasm is starting again. Used to be alarmed by you, but now I understand you. Good for you for trying to inject some humor into things for your fellow workers.

North Korea recently announced Sears Headquarters as a target for a recently-developed nuclear ICBM. The reasoning: No one will notice or even care when Sears is wiped off the map.

North Korea is worried that the U.S. Government will consider their military-strike action as a Gift. Accordingly, the U.S. is now planning to send a Sears coupon for woolen underwear to the North Korean leader.

Film, at 11.

How about 3 checkout lanes out of 10 with the line snaking to the back of the store. With 1 till open at customer service. And the tills crashing on top of that. People walking out the door with stolen merchandise. Wish we had a war room at kmart. Maybe Eddie could step up and check out customers at his local kmart and hear their complaints and greviences. But he wouldn't leave his gold plated dining room to help. With his servants and butlers. Why he is the grand master of the cult that is sears and kmart. We will succeed. It would be beneath him to help out with his to little and too late ideas.

@ush Upper management gets the 'movie star'-level pay, store associates just get paid like 'extras'.

@ush....Nice sarcasm but you know what I mean. Every public job requires a bit of acting......are you going to tell me that you enjoy having to say for example as a cashier "May I put that on your 5321 card?" No that doesn't come naturally....you are acting.

"You are an actor if you are part of anything but Seritage, from VP to regional manager to cashier."

Maybe time to start calling the employees 'cast members' like Disney does. ;-)

What war room? Never heard of that......it is what it is. Sorry to hear about your being laid off....they aren't all incompetent just have far too many areas as compared to the past. It is the same everywhere in corporations.....cutbacks lead to too few having to do too much.

You are spot on about Sears being anything but a retailer. It's just an elaborate placeholder until Eddie is able to cash in on the real estate and intellectual property once and for all. The retail operations exist just to pay the taxes.

There isn't any money being made, which is what they want, because it sends the tax liability much lower.

That's why Sears and Kmart exist, they are both disposable instruments to accomplish a bigger plan. Once that plan is accomplished, and soon it will be accomplished, both will no longer be useful.

So serving, delighting and engaging our members while they shop their way is all one big act. This is a theater. You are an actor if you are part of anything but Seritage, from VP to regional manager to cashier.
