Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Yay! I'm working ten days straight...

On day #2...eight more to go...

Apparently a day off isn't deserved after fully participating through Thanksgiving week and pulling more than my share. I'm at 51 hours by the end of this week.

Turning in my notice tomorrow. I should leave immediately but I want to be able to cash in my vacation I haven't been able to use.

I just love the contempt.

@2bll - Grow a spine! When someone is feeding you sh*t, why do you insist on calling it ambrosia?

Man, you people will whine about anything. You're just a bunch of snowflakes, put some heat to you and you melt. First, everyone complains that they don't get any hours now people complain they can't get a day off. I'm sure that you will blame your lack of funds and bills not on your unwillingness to work but on someone else and then expect someone to help you out. Get a clue. Hard work will get you ahead. If you dont want to work I am sure someone else will take your job and be thankful.

the job may s**k but have a little pride and work ethic.

@doc. I think we just think differently as I don't get upset about it at all. It is the holidays. I expect to have to work in retail. I don't expect anything in return other than a paycheck which so far I am still getting.

What they would always try to do to me wass the "can you work an extra day then we will adjust your hours the rest of the week so you wont go overtime" trick. Basically you would wind up working extra days and not gain anything from it. Also, it was funny how when something would come up in mid-week and you needed to switch a day with somebody, the schedule would always be set in stone with no changes allowed. However, any time it was beneficial to them changing the schedule was never a problem.

Of course not! Corporate trolls are off on Thursday. God forbid of they would have to work the day of a holiday. You are right. Drain that nasty overpaid swamp! The most annoying one is that fake happy syw spokeswoman who looks and acts like a damn nutjob. No wonder we are all so embarrassed to work for this company. What a joke this all is.

@zyp - and how does this make you feel? Since your there for the company giving blood, sweat and tears in their time of need, will they be there for you when your the one in need?

@yra Been with the company over 20 years and am working every day this week with the exception of Saturday and then I am still on call if something happens.

@QoNMntr-yra I fully agree. Sometimes OT just isn't worth the b---s--- you go through to get it. Still feels like you are underpaid.

@xqm - I don't know about you, however f--- OT. I would much rather have my life and spend time with my family and friends during the holiday season. Not being b--ched at by some asshat who can't read a sales sign correctly.

And those few corporate trolls that are still in the office are the lackies that haven't been there long enough and are forced in for store support. The rest of them have been off since Monday according to the "I'm currently out of the office" auto respond emails.

@bpt Even more shocked I remember one time when I was scheduled 40 hours and they told me do not go over a minute check your time I was ok. I somehow past went over 2 minutes couldn't get the end of it I was like wow 2 minutes lol and they were going crazy for that OT.

I once went nearly five straight months without a single day off because I was literally the only person in my store who knew how to work the position I did. Only managed to start getting one day off a week at the end of that when they found me someone to train.

I didn't ask if they were working on the weekend? Are they working on the Holiday of Thanksgiving? Thursday? No. They are not. Unlike the stores they have open at 6 am to midnight. Must be nice to see your family on a holiday.

Shocked at over 11 hours of OT? That's nothing. By the time this week is over I will have 21 hours of OT. I love the checks but I'm too tired to enjoy the money. Happy Thanksgiving.

I am shocked their giving you 11 hours in OT. I don't mind taking OT anytime it would be offered which is never! OT comes in nice when you want to bank a bit. Also you should still be entitled to your vacation hours when you give you notice of leave.

Oh no! Look at all those hours they're giving you. How horrible. All that extra money that you'll be able to use to pay your bills and feed your kids. Thank God they only give me 17 hours so I can keep stressing about those things...

Were you asked if you were okay with working so many hours? I know when i used to work hourly I always wanted overtime and extra hours, so maybe that is what your store manager thinks you want? I used to always ask for extra hours....no matter if it was a holiday or not. I think everyone is different with what they want.

The answer is yes.....There are corporate "trolls" who have to work this weekend too.....maybe not in the stores but in the office.
