You can definitely see the writing on the walls now. Kmart is being pushed aside and come January we will see how it plays out. Ad was the smallest ever and Sears was huge. Even if you rank top 25, 50 100 I will warn that no one is safe.....

@1je. I don't know how anyone could have thought Kmart would have a good holiday with such a small ad. I figured the sales would come in close to where they are coming in.

Eddie is winning the fight! More kmart store closures coming after the first of the year. He killed black friday this year. Just as he planned with his bean counters in charge.

Black Friday have always been about the ads...and Sears no longer is. The retailers with the bigger and better ads win on this holiday weekend. They understand that concept. We no longer do.

Kmart employee here....our store was the best of the worst in our district, with 47% down from last year at $48000. Was a complete joke of a day. Opening at 6am and staying open all night did nothing.

Kmart store associate here... I went in around 6:00pm, and checked the RMU for sales... We were only at $9,000 as of 5:59pm! Last I checked the RMU, it was 10:00, and we only had $29k in. LY's Thanksgiving figures were around $90k.

We were slightly busy between 7:00-9:00 and again from 11:00-1:00, but everyone was purchasing the $1.99 pillows, cheap throw blankets, and not much else. We did sell a few trampolines, but nothing really else high-dollar. Not even a lot of layaways went in.

We were wayyyyy down today at my Kmart (around 60% down from last year) it was such a ghost town compared to years past! So sad, it was actually depressing. There were a few bursts of customers, but nothing that couldn't be handled. Honestly most of our loyal base has given up on us and I really don't blame them.

Our store payroll is through the roof today. There's no way we eeked out any profit with 8 out of 10 registers open and one person on the floor for every department. Today we had an average of 15 transactions per hour and members were buying very little. I don't have stats but the only $100+ sale rung up all day was for a homeless shelter that came in for cheap pillows and blankets. We are a "top 200" Kmart so this is outright scary for Thanksgiving.
