Thread regarding Sears layoffs

How did your sears “Winter Blast” signing go?

Div 6,9,71

Apparently our store worked an over night shift and only signs I saw that got put up were the ones that hang from ceiling!

Christmas Shop had about 4 handwritten signs, no signs on trees

Tool gift bar had 1 handwritten sign

And whoever took the Holiday Blowout signs down made sure the took the white signs down too!

What a waste of payroll since absolutely nothing was done

plus no rad/ran was done either

I think men’s coats got signed hap hazardly and no signs even in RES for woman’s coats

What a complete mess

@2sxp Good for you guys. You must have had the whole store involved taking down all the Holiday Blowout signs and putting up all the Holiday Blast store signage plus taking down and putting up all the sale signs dated 11/27. Unfortunately in our store there were only three of us to do all the signage which included 1987 signs dated 11/27. Oh and the DM wanted pictures of all signage done before the store opened. What fun. Yuk!

@2xsp Good for you! My thoughts as well. DRAMA, DRAMA, DRAMA is what people like but in reality as you said they are just signs.

Is this a joke?

Everybody took a handful, took us about an hour to do the whole store. They’re signs people - you make it sound like we did a complete remodel

@1wep What she needs is a multi-step stepstool with wide steps, just about anybody who can walk can use one of those.

What Eddie doesn't get is that mass closing of stores might save you money in short term gains (and really small savings at that) it kills your revenue and in long term you lose a lot more money.

Or he may know this well and doesn't give a sh-- about Kmart, which feels like the true answer.

was Dumb to close garden city Kmart and others in a 20 mile radius

Eddie may see 1.5 billion in cost savings but doesn’t look like all the closed stores has made sales at remaining stores better

4th quarter report will still be awful

Thanksgiving week .com sales down 60% compared to LY as per data gathered from systems. Assisted .com sales were flat compared to LY.

Take a bow.

In our store our stupid softlines woman, who is sleeping with more guys than I can count, was too busy in her office on Facebook to do ANY signing, She also uses the "omg my doctor said i cant climb a ladder" excuse because she hurt her foot....which would have headed by now but she is like 50 pounds over weight so there is that.

The company is so f---ed up. I wonder how Wal Marts signing went...Oh wait. They don't waste their time, money, and employees on a bunch of pointless signing. Maybe that's just another reason they are easily kicking our a--.

"And whoever took the Holiday Blowout signs down made sure the took the white signs down too!"

In my store, at least in the departments I work, most of the signs were Blowout signs anyhow, supplemented with basic menu percents as we'd not gotten very many new signs lately. We were told Blowouts had to be removed Sunday, but there were no regular signs to replace them with, they weren't going up until today (suddenly swamped with a large quantity - fun), which my manager wasn't too happy about and had us at least put the menu percents in their place.

"plus no rad/ran was done either" - Did you volunteer to do some? No? Okay.

People seem to underestimate the work MCAs do, including those MCAs who aren't in charge of the signage. MCAs have a lot to do and in many stores limited hands and time to do it all with. Company priorities sometimes cause other tasks to lose out. (Such as RAD/RAN if the ad/Blast is priority.) If not everything can always get done as well as it should it isn't necessarily the fault of MCAs. (Excluding the scattering of lazy ones who don't want to be fair to other MCA team members who are working their tails off.)

We just requested missing signs and put up 11/27 ad and since 90% of our devices don't work you can imagine the headache. We only had 5 people doing ads for the entire store and I still don't think it was really complete. Such a waste of time.

We're handwriting signs since we are wearing out our printers and can't afford to replace them. They are over $2k, though there's a tech that comes to our rescue on a weekly basis to fix them and he's said that the band-aid repairs could have paid for a new one already.

@pha I only saw 6 total hand written signs basically buy one set of Xmas lights get one free

So I guess the emphasis this week is buy more save more

Since we only had 3 people in to sign today , I did not pay attention to the rest of the store , just lawn and garden and tools

What signs... I was supposed to be off today but gave up a few hours this morning to help with the regular ad set that they made happen today instead of the normal Sunday. Never saw any of the new Blast ad signs yet, just the big decorative ones that were being put up yesterday. No time for hand written so far.

@nyr I agree! Plus some people never learned good penmanship in grade school and it looks bad

But also remember, the higher ups are the ones that came up with this crap not the workers

It just makes everything look bad

Guess Hoffman Estates couldn’t figure out how to change the font to make it look handwritten but actually generated in the signwriter making it more uniform

This is nyr. All I’m saying is you guys with your handwritten signs sound more prepared for a bake sale than actually running a grownup business.
