The mcas and salespeople do the cashiering. This is the future of the Sears stores. It's happening on a gradual basis through out the company in various stores. After the first of the year the process will start excelerating. It's part of the transformation vision and downsizing and consolidation of personnel and a move to cut costs. Look at the Sears job openings. You see more and more openings for "cashier and softlines support" and "cashier and hardlines support." After the first of the year you will start to see more opening for "sales support" as a general position which encompasses cashiering and mcas. I was told this by both a district and regional HR manager. This is already happening in our store and a few others in our district. WE aren't happy about it and the commissioned salespeople don't like it because they have missed some sales particularly the mattress salespeople.
