This may be THE WEEK for the engineering department, unfortunately for a great crew of people, but after going through a serious job search and talking to people related to other companies, I’ve concluded that the GE engineers at Power really know their stuff, and it’s a sad thing to observe their current circumstances. They understand the market, GD&T, and their own components, generally speaking (these things itself separate you folks from others out there).
As of late, there’s been some rather risky designs, albeit a bit too late, but in hindsight I’m recognizing that the people at GE Power has sharp people. How Siemens could churn out a GT in 1 ½ years is not so remarkable taking into consideration that their workforce is 2 or 3 times that of GE, but with that, with such a small crew the GE team did accomplish a lot.
If they had a downside, they were afraid to speak up. This was especially true during their component peer reviews. But what can you do when with what you say is directly tied to your EMS? (wait, they have a new system now, LOL).
It’s a small world, we’ll bump into each other as we progress to other companies. Take care, good luck, and see you at Chipotle's. And hopefully your managers will give you a heads up before you find out in the Greenville news.
