Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

January/February UK layoffs

There are rumours there's going to be more in January and February. Expect a consolidation of RSM's as they look to remove management overhead. This is the new Cisco.

Haven't heard anything about more layoffs in the UK that soon. Anybody knows if there is any truth to this?

I would really like redundancy. It's really not a very enjoyable place to work. Hasn't been for quite a while. Good managers are gone and the rest are self serving hypocrites.

All those who sign the card are guaranteed to not be in the next 8 rounds of LRs and will be marked as future leadership material. Best RoI you can make.

I've always been in awe of his leadership skills. Is there a Paypal email I can donate to?

@3bkh - I don’t know where you got your information but it is not strictly correct.

The statutory consultation period is either 30 or 45 days, dependent on how many people are being made redundant in total.

Once selection is made you can be asked to leave immediately. However, you will be entitled to pay in lieu of notice, in addition to your statutory/enhanced redundancy payout.

Full details are on the gov.uk website.

I am disappointed why aren’t more people signing the Phil smith card? It lists all the names of those who signed. It doesn’t cost anything to sign and may help to increase internet traffic, boosting revenue opportunities. Can someone reach out to Kim K and get her to Twitter about this?

@QtIUaKg - due to UK labor laws, employees have to be made aware 30 days in advance that a LR is coming, and then the actual LR notifications happen after the 30 days. (for example) Some US employees were notified on Oct 10 that they are being laid off, with a termination date of Nov 9. So for UK employees, they find out on Oct 10 a LR is imminent. They don't know if they are affected until Nov 9, and then their last day is 30 days after that.

All this being said, if there is another UK layoff, there is advance notice it's coming. If you havent heard by now, then UK employees are safe - for at least another 60 days.

Couldn’t believe my inbox when I received the Email, please donate to the “Phil Smith is leaving” gift.

Think I might sign his card….

Two big fat corporate fingers to those recently LR’ed with a similar (20+ years) length of service, you didn’t deserve any leaving gift/card/dignity.
