Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Be very careful before accepting a position at General Motors

Don't make the same mistake I and a few others made...

GM's recruiting policies are downright deceitful. Pay structure they promise during the interview doesn't exist. There is pay base (which is rather low) and pretty much no opportunity to earn anything beyond it.

New folks are routinely thrown into the fray with very little training and no support. Which leads to not being able to meet quotas, probation, and in a lot of cases termination. New employees are basically setup for failure.

Oh, and the kicker is the fact that they expect pay back on any relocation money you were awarded, a sum that can go quite high in some cases.

Why would anybody want to come into a situation like this? My advice to anybody considering GM, just stay away. Between terminations and layoffs, there's no future here.

After you reach the salery grade mid point forget raises when you are above even if you are above satisfactory performance. Just shafted especially when over 50

Definitely believe what you are saying. Interviewers and hiring mgrs are not the most truthful people you will ever meet! Thanks.
