Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Test Clubs

I have been watching this site for a bit now....we see on here that the new stocking / receiving plan is being tested in some clubs...where are the folks from those clubs? Apparently not on here...I want to here from those folks to see how the plan is working out in their clubs.....I want to hear from the hourlies not managers because that is the only way to get close to the truth.....I know for a fact that when a program is failing managers often report to home office that the plan is working very well.....this they do to keep from looking like they are not capable of implementing the plan...this they also do to the detriment of workers and they club......so how about it folks , who on here is already doing the new plan?? if so do tell...............

Did the night shift get offered severance in the pilot clubs? I don't know many people who could shift their hours that much.

Not saying clerk and lead are staying just that they are still working in current roles at pilot club. In my opinion the clerk and lead actual positions will go away as desk jobs have. People will still be in those roles but maybe shifts change and be receiving associate roles.

So, only the clerk and lead are in the back ? Where are the other dock associates? We thought the clerk and lead were being eliminated !

Clerk and lead remain employed during the day in the day stock pilot clubs. I’m not the same person as below, I just know because I have spoken to clerk there.

To the person that posted that you are on the program what happens to the clerk and lead? Did you keep either position? ...just waiting for it to all roll out company wide, I'm a clerk

I'm one of the clubs with this new program. The new hours are not much better the old hours were better. You could get more stocking done in the set time frame that they give you to do it in.With the new program you have a lot less hours to work with and the same amount of work.It is not easy but we are still trying to find easier ways of doing it with less people. To be honest it s---s.

Why Costco does it better then Sams Club, they invest in there employees by paying them a higher hourly rate and set the expectations, they do not take ebt they target households with income of $50,000 and up and carry a better line of product to cater to these members, they invest in a larger Night stocking crew to stock the entire store in one night so forklifts are not on the floor disturbing members from shopping and no stocking is done during the day. They employ more cashiers and runners to keep the lines down at the registers and they don’t ask members to upgrade or apply for credit as they are checking out. They promote from within the company not from the outside like Sams has been doing the last few years or more due to the lack of talent within the clubs. Only downside for Costco is that they are behind in the online Shopping sector which I hear will be changing soon. At Sams Club there goal is to transform Club Shopping to online Shopping and Club pick up only which will lead to more job cuts and the elimination of cashiers, managers and team leads. The retail world is evolving and online shopping and convenience is the future. With technology evolving in a faster pace these days the industry will be hiring more programmers and designers.

It's true whatever Costco does we do. I mean I don't blame them they are winning. We can barley keep up. All clubs will have the new front end the first of the year (my guess is February). Just like Costco. Carts on one side, member on the other, a new runner position created for helping pack carts and jump on register if needed. Why do you think jobs are getting cut? They have to not blow payroll when they add these extra people to the front end.
