Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

What's going on today?

November 30 has been all over the board as a day of massive layoffs at General Electric, but I don't see anything happening either at my location or from people posting (which usually happens if layoffs are taking place.) Anybody knows if people are actually being let go today somewhere or was this date just a rumor gone wild?

More than 100 (exact number not given) are being notified in Greenville today. Renewables, design, controls, other engineering. Looks like the “Sciences” teams escaped w/out injury (which is unbelievable to be honest). This layoff, at least in Greenville, is smaller than the one in March/April when 300+ were let go.

Sympathies and best wishes for those affected...

Ge lighting plant in Bucyrus ohio. Not laying off anyone. Have called back several to help ramp up LED lamps. We just picked up a Hugh Lowe’s order and have full filled that order. But shutting down most of production an extra week at Christmas.

Renewables in Greenville hit again. Design in Barnwell Bldg also hit. Controls in GTTC hit. Those are the 3 groups I know of so far.

All the svp for core tech showed up in Detroit hub. Looks like they are going to lay off everyone at the site and only keep business aligned non-core tech it.

@QvpAnjB-qlc - are you getting ready for work at 4:00 am PST, or just getting home from the bars. FYI - the clocks on the east coast (where GE has many offices) read a later time than those on the Pacific coast.

Office not even open, are you joking? Yeah, I guess nothing has happened when you post at 4am PST.

Things have just started to unfold. I see "actions" happening at Schenectady and Greenville for Gas Power System engineering at least. Other business, function, location will have to wait for others to chime in.
