Please let us know what's going on. Does this seem as a targeted layoff or is it company wide?

@axe That is an unfortunate anonymous pseudonym to be given at a time like this. I was hit in March, and was also told to keep on keeping on. Also, to make it worse, they gave my role (that was eliminated) to someone in Europe.... and I had to bring them up to speed.
I'm not sure if you aren't allowed to access files, but you most likely will not be able to download anything to an external thumb drive. Everything you download from the intranet will be monitored. Every email will be monitored. Everything you print will be monitored. If you truly are not allowed to access the files you need to perform your job then I would kick back and do the bare minimum.

Major layoffs, I work (worked) for GE Power in Windsor. Over 40 years with Combustion Engineering/ABB/Alstom/GE Power.
They told me I have to come in for the next two months and continue with my work assignments. I can no longer access files or even print a document. How do they expect people to do this???

This is GE. Layoff is not on performance. Mediocrity is promoted. Strategic location is connected to an executive's wife.

As someone reported earlier and this is confirmed - 150 in Michigan - all of CoreTech wiped out. Group sessions and told it was a "strategic decision"

Many many being hit in Michigan. No numbers yet but everyone around me has gotten emails to meet with HR. Some are meeting in groups - not even getting an individual meeting. NICE.
