Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

rescinding the job offer i accepted

i am working as contractor in HR department in Oracle California, they offered me full time (with a meager salary) and i accepted it, for a month they did not give joining date(all the formalities like hire right checks etc completed) and finally the manager said they are rescinding my job offer, what a s--- place this is. I also dropped other offers from different companies i had during this time.

I also see this happening to other candidates who get Offers in Oracle(since i am in HR team i see this a lot closely)

Do yourself a favor and don't join Oracle, very bad management and it s---s

Similar sitch here but with a twist. Was an internal candidate. Nearly completed interviews then was hit by RIF. Last interview was after getting hit. Hiring manager worked on offer approval at 500. Then I waited ... and waited. Hiring manager then informed me offer not approved and req cancelled.

Sorry this happened but you dodged a bullet. Not a good place to work.

You dont have any legal case.

The contracts are all written so they can be terminated at any time.

This happens a lot here. I’ve seen worse. We’ve let people go who just MOVED to a new country to accept a job at Oracle.

Was the offer official or verbal? I believe that offers are not official until LE approves them.

FWIW, unless the job offer included a contract I think they can rescind the job offer. You are just an "at will" employee after all.

While is was a crappy thing to do, many companies do this, sadly.

Since you rejected other job offers based on the job offer, you have a legal case of damages if the other jobs are no longer available.

Go see a lawyer and sue for damages
