Thread regarding CVS layoffs

What's the best alternative?

The way things are going with CVS, it seems I'll be safer if I find a new job right away, instead of waiting to be shown the door unprepared.

I've been looking around, though, and things don't look much better in other companies. Just look at Walgreens' page at this forum, and you'll see what I mean.

Is there an alternative where employees don't fear for their jobs each day? (Sad how low my standards for good workplace have become.)

Start looking now. You don't want to wait until there is a massive layoff, and then be competing against all those people for other jobs. My position with CVS was eliminated in the November 2016 layoffs. I had heard through the rumor mill that it was coming, and started looking a few months earlier. Found another job 2 weeks before the layoffs happened. Glad I did because the severance packages were, in most cases, only 2 weeks pay.

They are realigning from Area on down. So it's across the board. Doesn't mean some areas aren't affected less/more than others, but it's company wide.

Just take the chance. There are nicer jobs. They may pay less but you'll like yourself more. We get one shot at this deal we call life and to work for a money hungry lousy company where the CEO makes 15000 or more an hour and cuts hours....gives employees raises that are 13 cent an hour. Hope they go under.....stores have mice!

Ther will be no severance. I was offered the option of quitting voluntatily or they would find a reason to fire mea after 30 plus years.

Depends what your role is. If your going to be shown the door their is a severance typically associated so it’s worth while waiting before bailing before that is offered
