9ujp - no, this was not announced, just Jim Cramer and others blowing off steam. Dumb guys who equated United Tech buying Rockwell Collins (another OEM) as a reason for Honeywell to buy Arconic (a build to print and raw material commodity company). Stupid logic.

Being an employee of Arconic I really, really hope Honeywell doesn't buy our company! We're finally doing better since we switched from Alcoa to Arconic and we don't need to be bought out by another company just to rebuild to their policies! Leave Arconic ALONE!!!

For those that don't know, buying companies is the ONLY way the idiots running this place can show growth. Don't worry, HON will take this company and ruin it too, just like it does with every company it acquires.

CB&I is planning to announce the sale of $2 billion technology group by this Friday, Honeywell is expected as the buyer. This will mean certain overlap between UOP and CBI technologies and consequently some job reductions to achieve “ synergies”.

That purchase would be very amusing since the former CEOs hate each other and corporate relations between Arconic (nee Alcoa forge, Howmet foundries and other key aerospace component suppliers) and Honeywell have been poisonous for at least a decade to say the least. Seriously though, if Honeywell bought Arconic, all of Arconic's other aerospace customers including every turbine engine manufacturer would transfer work out over a period of time and Honeywell could not backfill enough work to make the deal pay for itself IMHO. Since Buffett bought their main competition, PCC, perhaps Arconic needs to go private, again.
