Anyone notice more and more Sears repair parts and consumables are perpetually out of stock and our customers are waiting weeks and weeks for warranty repairs? Sears has yet to disclose the truth - more of our parts suppliers will no longer fill our orders on credit. They want payment up front and so far, that isn't happening. The biggest shortages from this are consumables for air cleaners and humidifiers, and repair parts for clothes washers, dishwashers and refrigerators. This should be in an SEC filing and investors should have been told, but it's still being kept a secret.
This is really bad for our Master Protection Agreement holders. We've got people sending the corporate office complaints about 12 week waits for repair parts on basic appliances they cannot use. These waits are so bad, they are turning up on the local news in consumer protection segments. Nobody is going to consider buying appliances from us when they see Sears' own customer forum and Facebook page loaded with horror stories about these problems. The social media people are blaming the weather, but the truth is our own suppliers don't see us surviving 2018 and don't want to become an unsecured creditor.
